Being crazy isn't enough

Waking up this morning was quite difficult. Everyone wanted to stay up late last night and watch old home videos of us when we were just little kids. Although we had fun we ended up staying up till 2 a.m.. I still got up though with a smile on my face knowing that my brother was home.
I walked down the cold steps, with a warm blanket tightly wrapped around my body, and into the kitchen only to be met by the lovely smell of food cooking."Well looky who's up!" My mom exclaimed throwing her hands up in the air.
I shook my head at her childish behavior.
"What are you making?" I asked grabbing a mug of coffee and peering over her shoulder to get a better look.
"Well, if you must know, I am making crepes." She said.
"Wow mom's getting fancy over here!" I mocked.
Mom smiled but continued to cook.
I smiled back as I made my way to the table. Taking a seat I realized we were the only ones here right now."Where's dad?" I asked, taking my mug of coffee in both hands and sipping.
"Your dad went to work early, Clayton is still asleep, as usual," she mumbled to herself, " And Logan went for a run, said he needed to ' get ready for 4th of July ribs'" She finished rolling her eyes.
First, off Logan loves mom and dads famous 4th of July ribs. Secondly, I totally forgot to tell my mom about me going to the festival with my friends. And lastly, I totally forgot that is tomorrow!
"Hey, mom?" I started, my voice wavering a little.
"Yes dear?" she acknowledged.
"Okay so you know how the festival is tomorrow?" she nodded her head in understanding, "well, Blake was asked by Lauren's boyfriend Derek if he was going to go. Blake said yes and then asked me of I wanted to go with him. Do you possibly think I could go with them?" I asked, very politely I might add. I also might have added a touch of the please-mom-I-would-love-you-forever face.
My mom smiled and turned to me, "Well I don't see why not?"
Wow, was this my mom? The mom that I knew never once before let us go with friends. She said, and I quote," It shows everybody else that we are the Kline family and we mean business." I don't really know how all of us showing up to the festival together showed our town that our family meant business but thats what her excuse was every year.
"Thanks mom. But may I ask, how does this year differ from any other year?"
"I just thought that you would like to run around with some friends this year instead of your family." she smiled.
I looked at her as if she had grown a second head. What happened to my mother?
"Okay." I finished. The room had grown quiet. Although me and mom werent talking it was very peaceful, I was enjoying my coffee and mom was cooking. All was fine until a large sweaty arm wrapped around my neck and squeezed.
"Get off me you sweaty pig." I yelled, scrambling out of Logans grasp, which I failed to accomplish because the next thing I know Logan is planting a sweaty kiss on my cheek.
"Stacy, your brother is still sleeping.Use a quieter voice. Please and thank you." My mother said turning from the stove to scold me
"Ew ew ew ew ew!" I screeched and threw him off of me. I rushed over to the sink and grabbed a wash cloth making sure to drench it with scalding water before franticaly rubbing my face with it trying to burn any Logan germs that were on me.
