Amaru"Is that Amaru?" Gum exaggerated.
"Nigga, where you been?" He asked as I pulled up to his house. He was on the porch, smoking as usual.
"Wassup Gum, where that nigga Jay at?" I asked, getting out of my car and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Why? What's good?" He asked when he noticed my demeanor.
"Listen, I'm not talking. Where he at? He put his hands on my little sister at your party last night. I know you know." I went on.
"Your little sister, Mani?" He asked and I nodded.
"I don't know nothing about that, you know I be high." He admitted, putting his hands up.
"Alright." I nodded.
"You know where he live at?" I asked and he nodded.
"That's the homie but I don't condone niggas putting hands on females." He said getting up and opening his door as we walked inside.
"You want something to drink?" He asked and I shook my head, standing there.
"I didn't come here to talk and sip tea." I admitted and he laughed, closing the refrigerator before walking back into the living room.
"Still the same old Amaru." He joked, sitting down.
"Why haven't you been around?" He asked and I shook my head.
"I don't do that no more." I said as I watched him break down his weed and put it on a scale.
"I mean, to see me nigga." He said looking up.
"We used to be boys." He went on and I nodded.
Me and Gum used to be homies, we became close the summer Riley left. When she left I got into a lot of things and drugs was one of them. I helped Bishop and Gum sell for a little while before I realized that it wasn't for me. Amanda ended up coming around to help me get my life back together because I wasn't myself that summer. Riley doesn't know any of this and I don't plan on telling her because I don't know how she would react and I'm not taking any chances.
"Yeah but I'm not into the shit you're into and I'm not trying to lose my girl by being around it." I admitted.
"Girl?" He jerked his head back and I nodded.
"Who your girl, Amanda?" He asked and I shook my head and looked at him, knowingly.
"Riley?" He asked, anxiously.
"Yeah." I smirked and he smacked his lips.
"Man, no she not." He shook his head.
"She is." I nodded, smiling.
"Damn, how long it took you to get her?" He said and I laughed.
"Sit down nigga, we need to catch up." He smacked his lips and I sat down, cautiously.
"Now, tell me how you finally got her after all these years." He said laughing and I shook my head.
