Look After You by the Fray

Happy 20th birthday to the boy who saved my life, Ashton Fletcher Irwin.

Emma's POV

I woke up again on the couch. My feet were in Michael's face and his arm was wrapped around my leg. I groaned and reached for my phone to check the time.

7:15AM July 7, 2014

July 7th.

Oh my god.

Today's Ashton's birthday.

I stood up and stumbled over to Ashton's bunk. I climbed up in and laid next to him. I rolled over so I was on top of him and pressed my lips against his. His eyes shot open before he passionately kissed me back.

I pulled away and smiled.

"Happy birthday baby."

"Thank you princess. Funny how I'm 20 yet I feel like I'm 8 still," he said with a chuckle.

~~~~~~~~
The afternoon was filled with partying on the bus and eating cake. I couldn't believe he was finally twenty.
I glanced at the microwave, 6:57.
I walked back to the bunk where Ashton was on his phone.
"Ash, we need to go, I planned something," I said with a smile. He furrowed his eyebrows but jumped down anyway, planting a kiss on my forehead.
We walked out of the bus and linked our hands together.
"Wait, you have to wear this," I said pulling out a blindfold.
"That's fine," he laughed.
I tied it over his eyes and led him into the marina, it was getting dark out. We walked a bit farther until we arrived. "Okay," I said taking off the blindfold.
"Holy shit that boat's huge."
"Mhm, and guess who got it to drive us around wherever we want."
"I would hope its you."
"You'd be right."
"Come here, you're so amazing. I love you so much."
"Love you too."
We walked onto the boat and music filled my ears. The boat really was huge, I didn't think it would be this big.
A man dressed in dress pants and a white shirt approached us.
"Ashton and Emma?"
"Yes sir."
"Follow me please," he replied and started walking up a staircase.
The room the stairs led to was beautiful. Soft music playing, champagne in the corner, candles lit, and gorgeous furniture filled it.
"Enjoy yourselves, the boat will be leaving shortly. Happy birthday Ashton," the man, John, he said, walked up another flight of stairs and out of sight.
We sat on the couch together and I pulled out my present for him. "Here, I know its nothing much, but I hope you like it."
He took it graciously and reached into the bag. The letter I wrote was pulled out first, "I'll read that when we get back."
Next was the drum sticks with his initials carved into each, wrapped with a red bow. The last to be opened was the framed picture of us. Of us kissing and me standing on my toes to reach him.
He pulled me into him and hugged me tight. "You are so amazing. This means so much to me. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you so much Emma."
"I love you so much more Ashton."
"Hey, come over here, the view is amazing."
I walked over to where he now stood against the large glass window. I looked out at the rolling waves, truly beautiful.
The music was turned up and a song by the Fray came on. Ashton and I looked at each other, as we both loved the Fray.
"C'mon, let's dance," he said walking towards the empty space in the room. I followed him and he put his hands on my waist, mine going around his neck. We both awkwardly failed at slow dancing, and I couldn't have been happier.
-----------
My baby will be 20 in 3 hours, I may or may not be crying.
Happy birthday to the beautiful Ashton Fletcher Irwin. I love you so so much, more than you will ever know.
