Ch 2 Revelations & Confrontation

But will all that change with the next question thrown at him? Johns POV

The room was silent, everyone was staring at me expectantly, waiting for me to say something. I knew this question would come up I just wasn't expecting it so soon. I had pondered what to say in response to this question for a long time. I knew that part of the what lead to my downfall in New Boston was that I constantly boasted about my power. I didn't want to make that same mistake twice. I had contemplated for a while pretending to be a cripple, but I don't want to do that because the other students will surely destroy me and I don't want to snap and hurt anyone. So after a couple of seconds in which I thought over my answer one more time I said this;

"Well, I prefer not to say." Everyone looked at me like I was insane.

"Well why not?" Elaine prompted "We won't judge you or anything."

"Well I don't want to say because I don't want you guys to be scared, or treat me any differently because of it." I heard some snickering and whispering throughout the classroom.

"Don't treat him any differently what is that even supposed to mean?"

"I bet he's a low tier and he's just stalling"

"Don't want us to be scared? Well what's there to be scared of; him?"

"Guys shut up he could be a high tier!"

Nearly everyone is talking about me, I sigh in defeat.

"Fine since it seems I won't get a moments rest until I tell you guys; my ability is ability mimicry." Everyone stops talking at once they're all staring at me again. Elaine is the first to speak again.

"Ability mimicry? What even is that, I've never heard of it before." She seems to be thinking something over in her mind "Could you give us a demonstration?" I started to sweat again I didn't want to have to use my ability so soon and in such a closed environment; I might accidentally hurt someone!

"Err well it's a bit complicated," I start "I'll just give you a summary, basically what my ability does is it allows me to copy other peoples ability's and use them for myself, it only works if the other person has their ability active as well though." Elaine looks at me in shock.

"You can basically have any ability you want then! That's insane! What's your ability level?" 

"7.8" I answer "but a lot of the power of my ability is staked on that of those around me." 

"Wow..." she seemed lost for words everyone was wide eyed with their mouths agape. 

"But like I said don't treat me any differently than if I was a mid tier or something" I look over at the clock "oh crap math class is about to start!" And I run out of the classroom, leaving a stunned silence behind me. 

I was the first to get to class, I was also the only person to arrive on time, though just barely. It was about a minute or two into the lesson when the rest of the class arrived. Throughout  the lesson I could feel people staring at me but I just ignored them, soon the class ended and it was time for lunch. I try to get out of the class as fast as possible to avoid further questioning. I quickly eat my lunch then go outside to take in the new surroundings. As I was walking along I was stopped by two other students; a red haired girl and a purple haired boy. They backed me into a corner before the girl said;

"So you're the new kid eh?" 

"It would seem so," I reply 

"Well you see word has it that you're a 7.8 but you refused to show your ability, we happen to think that you're faking it, and if your not, well together we're some of the strongest at Wellston. Isn't that right Ventus?" Said the red  haired female to her male companion.

"That's right Meili." He said with a smirk "Come on Johnny boy let's see it!" The girl activates her ability. Her hands turn to demon like claws. I can tell by her arua she's a elite teir. Her friend Ventus activates his his ability as well he looks of similar status to the girl. Two elite tiers could be dangerous, and I really wasn't in the mood for a fight. Meili runs back a bit and is propelled forward by a gust of wind from Ventus. In a split second I have my ability active and I block her attack with some demon claws of my own.She pulls back her hand a bit shocked.

"So you really can copy abilities,"

"Sure can" I surround them in a wall of black wind obstructing their vision, then run off trying to avoid the fight altogether. By the time  I deactivated my ability I was on the other side of campus a well ways away from the trouble making mid-tiers. I look at my watch I had just enough time to get to my next class on time. So I go inside and start the search for my classroom.
