“Come on now Avery, I can see the wheels in your head already spinning.” He said pacing infront of me. His accent only solidifying my thoughts.
“If I were you I would turn around and go back to whatever hell like third world country you crawled out of before I kill you like I killed your father.” I said with a straight face. Weighing my options I could kill him and the three rogues he had standing behind him. The only problem with that scenario is that my body isn’t ready to withstand another fight.
“Feisty. They warned me about you quick temper, impressive skills. But you know what I find humoring? Of all the packs in the world you choose the one that strongly believes in the myth of the grey wolf. But why?” He stopped infront of me with his hands behind his back.
“Very good hiding tactic. A human hiding amongst were’s, I wonder if they knew who you really are and what you do if they would kick you out. Turn you into a rogue to fend for yourself. Wouldn’t that be tragic?” He added with a smirk. I stood with my face blank trying to conceal my rage and control my wolf.
“You see I know so much about you , but you know nothing about me.” He laughed.
“Actually you don’t know anything and I, well I know enough. So tell me, how does it feel knowing that in your fathers last minutes his only concern was his son he wasn’t ashamed to hide.” I could hear his heart beat falter and see the beads of sweat start to develop on his face. “That’s right I know a few things about you. Like how your mother was a wolf but in your country they are treated like dogs. How she thought your father was going to sweep in and save her from her horrible life as the royal family’s errand mutt but she was mistaken. After he found out she was pregnant he had her kicked out. But your life gets better you see after being a rogue she found her mate who didn’t want anything to do with the bastard pup his mate was carrying. So she had you and she had two options kill you or kill her mate. But before she could decide he rejected her. All thanks to you. Do you know what a rejected mate feels? Oh, that’s right you can’t,because she abandoned you and when she came back if she wasn’t drunk she was beating you, she was keeping you locked in that awful cellar, until you uncovered you’re little gift at the ripe age of sixteen and started taking up for yourself before your mom killed herself. Expressing her apologies for treating like the piece of shit you are, and your father was, and here is where your biography gets almost comical, so you find your father and he actually accepts you well you thought he did. He tried to kill you. His dirty little secret. Your dad, embarrassed of you and your mom, well she was just a crazy bitch in all sorts of the word and you, you’re just trying to make a name for yourself, oh wait I’m sorry you’re trying to take a name for yourself. Like I said turn around and leave and I won’t kill you.” I told him adding some venom to my voice. I turn to leave and he spoke.
“You may think that you can scare me off with a few family secrets but I won’t stop until I get what I came here for.” And with that I heard him and his dogs retreat. He shouldn’t know anything about me.
My head was spinning by the time I walked into the house. I should have been thinking about a story to tell Libby, but I wasn’t. I was too caught up in what my dad had said the other day about the time that lapsed in between the explosion and him finding me. I may have very well fucked up. When I got to my room she was sitting on my bed starring at the floor.
I took a deep breath and went and sat next to her.
“Do you think I’m weak?” She asked her gaze never leaving the floor.
“No, why would you think that?” I was so confused.
“I could smell them. The rogues. When you lose one sense the others go into overdrive. I could smell them as soon as I started running. You don’t think I can defend myself that I’ll get in your way.”
