Leila-sitting on Danny's shoulders-looked around the hallway for either Scott or Allison. She shifted her leather jacket and grey scarf nervously, wondering if the Alpha had taken them. Neither of them had been seen all day, and Leila was beginning to worry. She decided to call Lydia and see if she had seen the couple, but she saw an incoming call from an unknown number.
"Hello?" she asked when she put it to her ear.
"Uh, hi."
The voice was Scott's. Leila's eyes widened in surprise, but she replied.
"Hey. How'd you get my number?"
"Allison gave it to me. I just wanted to have you tell the others that I won't be spending the day at school. I'm with Allison since it's her birthday."
"Oh, tell her I say happy birthday!" Leila was confused on why Allison wouldn't tell anyone, but she didn't bother asking, since the brown haired girl likely had a valid reasoning. "And skipping sounds like a brilliant idea."
"Allison and I want today alone-"
"I won't intervene, Scott," stated Leila. She flipped upside down so that she was looking right at Danny. "What do you say about ditching?"
He kissed her softly. "That sounds lovely."
Leila spoke into her phone again. "We might run across you, but we'll be by Derek's. So I'll talk to you later. Bye, Scott."
"Bye, Leila."
Leila hung up, then put her phone in her jacket pocket. She slid off Danny's shoulders and the two furtively walked towards the door.
Leila walked quickly towards Derek's Camero, which he had no idea she took. Danny's looked impressed by her car and complimented her on it. She laughed.
"Oh, I just stole this from my brother."
"Scott?"
"No, Derek."
The two got into the vehicle, and Leila drove them towards Derek's house while listening to the Queen station. Bohemian Rhapsody came on, and they were both yelling the lyrics to the song. After We Will Rock You and Eye of the Tiger, the two arrived at the beaten down Hale household. Derek was waiting at the front door, and Leila gulped.
"Did you ruin my car in any way?" the black haired man asked.
"No," answered Leila.
Derek shrugged and walked back inside. "Okay. Do whatever you want, then. As long as the Alpha doesn't attack you and as long as you don't die."
"Good that."
The couple walked away, hand-in-hand, and Danny suddenly spoke. "Alpha?"
Leila sighed. "Long story. I'll explain it sometime soon."
Danny nodded like it didn't even bother him, and it didn't. He didn't mind the fact that his girlfriend was keeping a few secrets, because he completely and wholeheartedly trusted her.
And he knew, that no matter what happened, he'd still be close to her. If they broke up, he'd want to be a close friend. If their relationship became more than just boyfriend and girlfriend, then he'd be fine with that. He just wanted to at least be friends with the short and quirky-but secretive-girl.

"NANTS INGONYAMA BAGITHI BABA!" Leila shrieked as The Circle of Life played from her iPhone 4S. She was once again on Danny's shoulders, and he was running around, dodging trees as he ran.
