Ok so I had my last rehearsal before recital today, and the last day of rehearsals we always have a party. So we had snaccs, and then gathered the whole comp team in the biggest room.
So a little backstory.
Our team has 42 people. The group of "older kids" is me and eight girls. Seven of the girls are all friends, and they all go to the same school. The last girl (we'll call her Emily) goes to school with all of them but she's not as close of friends with them as they all are together. In fact, she and I are probably closer friends with each other than we are with the rest of them. I don't go to school with any of them.
But to make one thing clear: the nine of us are all still pretty decent friends. Like we all talk and get along and stuff. We're all in the same dances and stuff.
So today, the whole team was gathered in the biggest studio to play some dumb game. I was sitting with Emily and a few of my friends. I noticed none of the other older kids were in the room besides Emily.
They came in a few minutes later with a bunch of paper plates. They said, word for word:
"So we older kids wanted to show our love for all of you guys. We all got together to make some paper plate awards for all of you."
Emily looked at me, I looked at her.
We, the ONLY OTHER TWO OLDER KIDS, were never told this was happening, nor were we even asked to help make the awards.
They just completely left the only other two older kids out of the loop.
It was SO embarrassing. It made us look like bratty, non-caring older kids who didn't want to be a part of it.
And none of the even cared.
They proceeded to give one to every person on the team, AND every teacher. Emily and I got several strange looks from our teammates.
We. Were. So. Mad.
We were thinking about going together and doing something for the whole team for recital, like getting them all a candy bar or something and saying that it's from just Emily and I. But is that too petty or nah? I mean those girls PURPOSEFULLY left us out of their little group s o.
I'm just a bit bitter.
