You've heard of the unpopular opinions on Twitter. You know, the ones where people think they're saying something that no one will agree with when in reality, thousands of people will agree with them.

Like: "unpopular opinion: McDonald's is gross"

"Unpopular opinion: I actually like Starbuck's"

I guess people don't understand the concept. So I'm here, today, to give you a TRULY unpopular opinion, regarding the Marvel characters being LGBTQ+

Let's begin.

PLEASE NOTE that this will consist ONLY of characters currently in the MCU (not including X-Men and Deadpool).

Also, I will be using "you" in a universal sense; I'm not talking about anyone specifically.

☆☆☆

I AM SICK of people thinking that every single character in the MCU is canonically LGBTQ+. In reality, very few of them are.

The only two that currently exist in the MCU that are canonically LGBTQ+ in the comics are Loki and Valkyrie (and no, that's NOT her real name. But we're not getting into that now). Let's get that out of the way now.

But aside from them, no other characters that have already been introduced are LGBTQ+ in the comics.

If you're writing a fanfic and you want them to be LGBTQ+ (good grief I'm getting tired of typing that), that's fine. It's your story. But when people constantly insist that they are LGBTQ+ and that they think that they know it's canon, that's where the trouble starts.

I'm here to prove that certain characters aren't LGBTQ+, despite the insistence that they are.

1. Tony Stark

This one I just don't understand. He's clearly a womanizer, has never shown any interest in men, and yet people insist that he is canonically at least "bi-curious". This is largely due to one comic strip showing female and male sex slaves (I'm not explaining that one, you all can look it up yourselves lol)

The thing people miss is this: it's only slightly possible that he is canonically "bi-curious". Slightly possible does NOT equal canon.

It's an idea that popped into some fangirl's head and is in no way stated in the comic anywhere.

Which means what?

IT'S NOT CANON.

Another common argument is "well have you seen the way he looks at men?"

Well, if you pay any attention, you know that's just how he looks at everyone that he's mutually unattracted to. It's the Stark look.

And if you pay even more attention, you notice he's always checking out the women, not the men.

So.

2. Steve Rogers

There is NOTHING in the comics or movies to even suggest that Steve Rogers may be LGBTQ+.

Which means, literally nothing exists to bring that notion to life aside from desperate fangirls.

Steve is not LGBTQ+ in the comics or movies, only in your head. Sorry to disappoint.
