A Little About Me

Hello, I'm Katherina! I'm from the United States. I'm a full-time university student, and I've been a storyteller since I could speak. English is my first language, but I speak a little bit of French and I hope to learn many other languages someday.

When I'm not writing, I love to read, hang out with friends, and research random topics online (my Google Chrome app always has at least 10 tabs open!) My favorite genres of literature are mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, and nonfiction. Oh, and I'm a big Harry Potter fan (Hufflepuff for life!)

I'm also queer, Christian, and doubting my faith. In my first nonfiction work, Christian and an Ally: Why Being is Okay, I went over why I believe it is not an oxymoron to be queer and Christian. However, I didn't talk about my own journey of faith, sexuality, and doubt, for several reasons.

I was scared to come out, especially since most of the people commenting on my book were anti-gay Christians who believed that I was leading people astray at best and accused me of holding hands with the devil at worst. I knew they would see my argument as illegitimate if I came out, when in actuality, I've been an ally of the LGBTQ+ community for my entire life (and I identified as straight for most of that time). However, I was also scared to admit my spiritual doubt and questioning, which is also frowned upon and slapped with a label of "heresy" in most sects of Christianity.

Thankfully, I'm not afraid anymore. This book will cover many different topics, including my coming-out story and my journey of faith, the basics of Christianity and other religions, my love of science, my thoughts on various theological concepts, and of course, my doubts. I hope that sharing my story will be of use to those out there who are either going or have gone through similar experiences.
