Jareth

She was finally face to face with him after searching the entire ballroom .Her green eyes were wide and seemed to shine brighter than all the lights hanging in the room. However, She kept glancing at the fey woman that put her hand on his chest.

Oh Love, no need to fret.

He reached for her hand and she placed her dainty fingers on his shoulder instinctively. He moved to the soft music and she followed his lead without breaking eye contact. Her dark brown wavy hair framed her round face and the creme colored gown he picked out for her fit her perfectly. Too perfect actually. He wanted nothing more than to hold her close and kiss her. But it wasn't the right time for that, she wasn't ready. So this was the next best thing.

Suddenly her dreamy expression changed. She was glancing around the entire room looking overwhelmed and panicked. The masked fey guests were loud and gawking at her for dancing with him. She glanced back at him looking horrified and then he realized she figured out she was in his trap to stall her and pushed away from him, quickly merging into the masked crowd. He stood between the crowd, feeling hurt and confused. She felt the same way as he did for her, he saw it in her eyes. So why did she choose her young brother over him? She was the one who wished him away . He only did as she commanded. He watched as she made her way to the barrier he put up and made no move to stop her even though he could. Sarah shattered it with a chair. Guests screamed and the grandfather clock chime echoed loudly as everything was being sucked up into the broken barrier. Then she was gone.

He woke up with a jolt and found himself alone in his large bed. His body sticky and covered in sweat. The silver moonlight danced around his dark chamber through the open stain glass windows.

"Ugh" he grumbled. The chamber goblins were going to pay for leaving the windows open. They knew it gave him nightmares. His bed creaked as he got up and walked to the windows. The night breeze made the milky white curtains flutter back and forth as if they were alive. The night air was as icy as ever. The sky was starless, just as he liked it. Unfortunately, the moon was full and bright. "Just like your eyes", he whispered. Just when he thought he was finally getting past her leaving him forever, his heart reminded him it was impossible.

Still, even with the deep ache he could never seem get rid of, he hadn't had nightmares specifically about her for ages .It took a lot of mental and emotional strain on his part to toss her out of his dreams plus loads of potions and herbal remedies . Advisers and his family watched his every step and crowded him everyday with their so called concern until he pulled him self together or at least appeared to.

A cool breeze disturbed his thoughts and he chuckled. "Oh Love, you're cruel even without being here". With that he transformed into a white owl and flew into the night.
