Jareth
Jareth froze the dagger in midair, inches away from his face. Grayven stopped grinning and scowled with his hands behind his back again. Breyette turned towards Grayven, her face was bright pink. "Grayven! what on Earth were you.." Jareth placed his hand on her shoulder and pulled the dagger out of the air.
The dagger's blade was short and blunt, intended to cause as much pain as possible. The handle was encrusted in colorful gems and the letter "J" engraved in silver. He looked up at Grayven with a smirk. "Lovely gift, but I don't like to play with toys anymore." Grayven smirked back and crossed his arms over his chest. "You'll learn to love it." he replied. Breyette shook off Jareth's hand and glared at both of them. "Why do I even bother to associate with both of you" she sighed and walked back to the creme colored chair she was sitting on. Jareth laughed and Grayven's grin got bigger. "It's nice to see the Goblin King back and the haircut does make you look like uncle, what made you cut those pretty long strands so short?" he mocked.
Jareth ignored him and walked to the the chair his sister was sitting on. Breyette was fiddling with a delicate silver chain on her wrist and didn't seem to notice him standing next to her. "To whom do you wed with?" he asked. If Breyette was startled at his sudden closeness she didn't show it and continued to fiddle with her bracelet. "You've been avoiding me for the past few months so I decided to send you the wedding invitation like any other guest, I'm glad you actually bothered to read it" she said quietly , not bothering to look up.
Jareth felt a pang of guilt but his pride won as always. "Wasn't much of an invitation, there was just a date and no names, for all I know you're marrying a street sweeper" he said. Breyette finally looked up at him, but she was smiling . It reminded Jareth of his own mischievous smile. "What if I am?" she asked. Jareth started snickering. Breyette's smile turned into a frown. "My spoiled brat of a sister marry a street sweeper? Please Breyette you know you're more likely to marry fat old Lord Hillsworth" he sneered. "I would not! " she exclaimed, her face turning bright pink again.
She grabbed a pillow off the chair next to her and tossed it at him. He dodged it and walked over to Grayven , who had sat on the the chair across from them. "Grayven would you mind telling me who the new member of the family is? Lord Hillsworth isn't it? he asked and he heard Breyette shouting profanities behind him. Grayven looked up at Jareth with a serious expression. "Well what if I told you he already is a member of the family?" The room went dead silent. Jareth could hear himself breathe. He felt Breyette place a hand his back. "Over the past few years when you were ...unwell, I found comfort with Grayven and we realized we were quite fond of each other from the very beginning but children don't really understand their feelings. Our love bloomed and we both feel ready for marriage." she explained in a calm voice.
Jareth look over at Grayven who looked concerned and looked over at Breyette who looked even more concerned. "We wanted to tell you but you were avoiding us, avoiding everyone" continued Grayven. Jareth took out the dagger from his shirt. "Was this appeasement ? " he asked, careful not to show any emotion in his voice. "Y-yes" stuttered Grayven, looking a little paler. Jareth put the dagger back in his shirt and stood straight. "We have been friends since the very beginning and I would trust no other fey with my sister but you Grayven" he said with smile. Breyette and Grayven looked surprised and Jareth rushed out before they could say anything. Too many things have changed without him. He needed to get his life back.
