POV Jake
Next morning when I woke up Julie was already out of bed, I went downstairs to see if she was making breakfast. She wasn't.
I didn't see her in class either, I asked Ashley and Ronald but non of them knew where she was. I asked Alice if she knew, she just replied with ' Jake you need to stop with that girl she isn't good for you' what do you know what's good for me?
I asked Mike and Jessy if they knew but just like everyone else they weren't any help 'why? do you want to yell at her again?'
At last, a week later, I went to Kevin to ask where she was. I brought it up casually so he won't suspect anything.
'She's at her grandmas house, she wasn't adjusting here so she went back'
'She can't just pack her stuff and leave' I whispered.
'No she likes it there, she gets along well with Carter and she loves the country side' he replied.
'Yeah that's fine but what about classes?'
Julie is going through a lot, she shouldn't be allowed to be by herself. What if she tries hurting herself again?
It kept me restless until I decided I was going to go see her and bring her back.
I know it wasn't my place to want her here again, Kevin was right she wasn't adjusting here at all but what different could it be over there? Maybe I'll just visit her and see if she's doing better there or not for my own peace of mind.
When I reached there she was out horse riding in the fields with Carter, her grandma served me tea as I waited.
'What is your interest in my granddaughter?' She asked as we waited for them to return.
' she's a good friend of mine'
'Yes, i just wanted to clear out that if you are looking for a romantic relationship with her then that's impossible'
'Why is it impossible?' I asked annoyed at her interference in my personal matter.
'Julie is not ready for any kind've relationship and it would be years until she really is, so you are really just wasting time'
'I could wait years' I replied looking her straight in the eye, which made her angry.
'I would like for you to take your leave now' she said angrily.
'If you are scared that I'll hurt her in any way than rest assured I would never do that to her'
'Don't get your hopes up and stay away from her' she replied going inside leaving me on the Porch.
Julie walked in going towards the stables with her horse along side when she noticed me.
'What are you doing here?' She asked, surprised.
'You left' I replied.
She looked at me opening her mouth to say something and then fighting afew thoughts calming down and then to a soft smile.
'Yes Jake I came to my grandmas' she replied
'Yeah, yeah, Kevin told me'
'So what are you doing here ?' She asked again.
'I wanted to tell you that ..' I could see her grandma looking at us from the window '..that you owe me money for pizza from that night'
She looked at me weird and started reaching for her pocket, I jerked to stop her.
'No listen it's just I want you to come back' I said.
'Come back? I don't want to, I like it here' she replied with a calm look
'Really?' I asked
'Yeah i have a horse here' she said smiling with excitement 'look at how pretty she is' she was shrieking at this point.
'Okay wow you are happy here'
' why would you think I'm not?' She asked.
'It's .. I don't know.. you tend to disappear when you're upset' I replied.
'So you think you know me now' she said crossing her arms infront of herself.
'I was stuck being your neighbor for years.. kinda didn't have a choice but to know you' I replied. Her grandma came out to take her inside, Julie noticed that.
'So how's your girlfriend Ivy?' Julie asked me with a smile. And then turning to her grandma
'Ma you remember Jake right? Alice's younger brother Kevin's to be brother in law'
'Oh .. yes yes ..now I remember' she replied smiling ignoring what had happened previously.
'Yeah Kevin was busy so he asked me to bring Julie home, she has her finals coming up' I added to it.
Julie looked at me annoyed.
'How about you stay for lunch and then you kids can go ..there'd be less traffic .. I'll go cook something up' she said leaving us behind.
'Jake I'm not going back'
'You have to'
'No I don't .. and now you took all my happy energy again'
'Your what now?'
'Horse riding gives me happy energy Jake and you give me .. bad news! always.. you know what I'm not gonna look at you anymore' she said covering her eyes and hugging the horse. She hadn't grown one bit.
'Okay we can go horse riding again but then we are going home'
'Who invited you to horse ride with me?' She said rolling her eyes as she often did making me strongly nostalgic. I love this girl.
At lunch Ivy kept calling me until I switched my phone off, Julie noticed it and gave me a suppressed smile.
'You can talk to her you know' she finally spoke about it.
'I'll talk to her later'
'Does she know you are here?' She asked
'No I don't tell her every single thing I do'
'Well maybe she's worried, call her' her grandma said. I smiled at her as I excused myself to answer the call.
'What's up Ivy?'
'Where are you I'm at your place I've been waiting for hours'
'I'm with Julie I replied
'Oh ..that slut..' she said under her breath
'Excuse me'
'Yeah haven't you heard about the whole Ryan thing? I thought you knew and that Mike thing too'
'Well I'm with her right now and you should leave, I'll pick you up when I'm back'
'Don't tell me I have to be worried about you and Julie now do I?'
I didn't answer.
'Listen her grandma is at the table too it's not nice to get up and talk like this so I'm going back inside okay? Okay' I said, as I hung up on her.
