Chapter 19

Me and Alice stayed the night with Jake in the hospital while everyone else left.

Alice POV

looking at my little brother lying so weak and defenseless, broke my heart to bits. I had given Jake a hard time growing up. My mom had married his dad when we were young and i never fully adjusted to it.

I used to make him do all the chores but he always looked up to me with respect, i wish I could fix all that because the truth was, my little brother was more concerned about my well being than i was of his. With all my cruel behavior, he still cared for me.

He would complain and insult me for my drinking habits, he always argued about my boyfriends. Unlike Kevin and Jake, I was really wild in my teenage days. I dated a lot and all for money. I hated my step dad and taking money from him was an insult in itself. My mom married Jake's dad when he was just a few months old. I hated his dad all my life and that anger of mines was put out on Jake.

"Forgive me Jake " I heard Julie whisper, I pulled the curtains away to find her holding Jakes hand against her chest, her eyes were puffy and her face was wet with tears. She didn't turn to look at me, just wiped her tears and stared at him again.

"For someone who slapped Jake you sure are weird" I spoke ignoring the fact that she was my future sister in law.

"Alice Why does everyone I love die ?"

"He's not dying ... "

"You better be right cause I love Kevin too " I could guess what she was thinking when she started crying again, I went to her and wiped her tears.

"Nobody is dying Julie and it's surely not because you love them, stop assuming weird shit "She calmed down and stared at him again, at his peaceful face.

"You never told him, did you ?" I asked her.

"I don't want to lose him again" she ignored my question.

"He wasn't yours to begin with " I replied.

"He's mine, I love him. and I'm going to tell him that as soon as I get a chance and you'll see... he would say yes because I know he loves me too... " she went on mumbling until she broke down crying. I knew she was in love with him and I knew they were meant for each other. Everyone who ever met the two knew that.

I should call mom and Jake's dad Mr o Donnell, they'd probably kill me if they found out from somebody else. I left Julie and Jake, and went out getting my phone to dial mom. I had missed a few calls from Kevin last night. I called him back, he was on the road and replied with 'I'm on the way' His stay was supposed to be till 3 but I guess he cut it short to be here. I called mom and told her what had happened. She was furious and scared, all at the same time but hey it's not like I shot him. When I went back in, Mike, James and Sam had already came.

POV Mike

Jake was still knocked out but his health was stable and out of danger all of us were relieved and were waiting for him to wake up. Julie on the other hand, was still tensed. She held his hand and you could tell she was sleepy cause she kept dozing off and then waking herself back up. We all told her to get some rest but she declined. She looked at James with a bothered expression since he was talking loudly but James didn't notice her "Hey how about we go sit outside and leave them alone " I said getting up and taking them outside. We waited for an hour or so. James and Sam were talking, Jessy had joined in too I had to be somewhere else so I went in to tell Julie to call me when he wakes up but she had climbed into Jake's hospital bed and was fast asleep next to him, still holding his hand.

POV Jake

I woke up to her face right next to mine. She was faintly holding onto my hand. I moved my hand up her elbow, shoulder and to her face, I combed her hair back with my fingers. She was beautiful but she was weak... her under eyes were prominent. She didn't deserve to go through anything alone, I want to be with her and I want to make her happy.

"Hey you're up " she whispered, rubbing her eyes, waking up.

"I can't really sleep with you on the bed, you took all the space " I teased her

"Get used to it " she said turning away.

Those words felt like a gift to me. She got up turning to me again "Hey you're up " she repeated "I'm always up at this time "

"Yea ?" She asked.

"Yea what time is it anyways? " I asked.

"I don't know I think it's time for us to .."

"Us too.... ?" The door opened and she turned to look at who it was. It was Ivy, Julie rushed out of bed and left the room.

"Thank you " Ivy whispered to her as she passed by her.

"Listen, Ivy"

"No" she cut off coming towards me, "I thought over what you said and you were right. We should break up Jake, I love you and i want you to have your love, even if it isn't me. I want you to be happy. If you ever feel like you made a mistake, I'll be here " she said in a breaking voice.

"I hope you're feeling better " she added, clearing her throat, toughening up.

I looked at her with sorry eyes and took her hand " I'm sorry it wasn't meant for us to happen but you'll find someone that will love you only more. Just know... I've cherished everything we've done together and if you ever need help with anything, I'm here for you "I told her. she pulled her hand away from me, faked a smile and slowly walked out the door.
