Chapter 2

Around 4, we came out to meet up with Ronald (our old friend from school) and Ryan (Ashley's new boyfriend who she spent all noon talking about). They had saved a table near the window on the second floor.
'It's so pretty outside!' Ashley said, shrieking while getting into her seat next to Ryan.
'I knew you'd like it' Ronald said sitting next to me. The story of Ronald and Ashley is pretty simple, he likes her but he's to shy to admit it.
'The view is pretty in here as well' Ryan said faking a cough. I looked up at him, he was looking straight at me as he kissed Ashley on her forehead. Who was still looking outside. Creepy, very creepy.
'Say Ashley why doesn't Julie have a boyfriend yet ?' Ryan asked her, bringing his leg closer to touch mine, which made me feel beyond uncomfortable. I pulled my leg back so he couldn't reach me no more. Ryan was looking at Ashley brushing her hair back which annoyed Ronald. It was safe to say me and Ronald were ready to leave.
'what can I say, nobody's good enough for her " she smiled at me.
Ronald picked up the menu after sighing "so what do we wanna order " he asked himself.
"You're supposed to give the menu to the pretty lady" he said gesturing towards me. Ronalds hold on the menu got tighter and you could see the hate that was blazing out of his eyes for him.
"No wonder you dont have a girl friend " Ryan added brushing his hair back "no girl would ever want a guy like..."
"Ryan" Ashley whispered stopping him.
"oh I'm sorry, i didnt mean it like that. I was just talking to him as a friend, tell him Julie' Ryan said addressing me. This guy was so annoying. Why did we invite him??
'hey Ashley these cupcakes sound good don't you agree?' Ronald said completely ignoring the situation.
"I was thinking the same" Ashley said smiling covering up her boyfriends words.
"I don't like chocolate, what about you ? "Ryan asked me.
"i love chocolate" I lied. Not agreeing with that creep.
"okay then i'll give the order " Ronald said getting up to go.

'Ashley why dont you go with him ?' Ryan whispered, giving her way to get up. Ashley looked at him suspiciously.

'no like help him out ..' Ryan added.

'what sort of a man makes a lady work ?' Ronald whispered to himself. I got up after him, realizing where this was headed.

"I gotta go fresh up " I said heading towards the girls toilet, well what was I supposed to do? I can't stand that guy! he's my best friends boyfriend and he's a total jerk. Yes, the plan was to hide in there till they came back with our order, when I turned to look Ronald and Ashley had left and Ryan was sitting alone.
When I came out, I found Ryan standing outside the girls room .
'What are you doing here ?'I asked him .
'What a funny thing to ask..'he said "Wanna go out with me ? " he asked, taking hold of my hand.
"No." I replied firmly, pulling my hand back, he took another step closer, I took half a step back, he started twirling the tips of my hair around his finger.
"Come on, don't be selfish ,"he whispered under his breath. I slapped his hand Away ,which made him angry, He held my waist roughly and pushed me against the wall.
"she takes you seriously! You are such a jerk!" I cried.
"She doesn't need to know" he replied without a care in the world.
I tried to push him back with my hands but he kept pushing his chest closer at me, I brought my hand up to slap him but right then Ronald pulled me away from him and eyed him
"What a way to treat a lady ?" he said to him softly, in an irritated way.
Ronald took me back to where Ashley was sitting, looking at her Ronald leaned in and whispered into my ear "not a word " then he let go of my arm and let me sit.
"What is it ?" Ashley asked me.
"Nothing, just Jake " I replied, Ashley lightened up a bit after hearing that.
"Eat up and forget about him " she said smiling cheerfully, Ronald was looking at her, smiling , as he often did. If only he'd let me tell her, they could be the perfect couple. He caught me looking at him and jerked back looking away immediately 'yea! So what about Jake ?' He asked.
"Tell you later "
When we were done, Ronald dropped me off at the soccer field since he had to go the opposite way. I used to hang out in this field with Jake and the others (Mike, Sam ,Jessica and James), We met a few times in the past two years but not as much as we used to, we met everyday, no, I think we met every two hours back then.
'Hey where are you coming from ?' I heard a familiar voice ask from a distance, I turned around, it was Jessica she was yelling from a bench all of them were there except Jake, I walked up to them.
'cafe' I answered
'A date ?' Sam asked.
Jessy and Mike looked up at me as she asked
'No hell no!' I laughed at the idea.
'well get aboard the lonely train' James chuckled.
'You were single just like us till you started dating Sam'?' Jessy replied
'sure feels good to not be single' Sam teased.
'Stop acting we know you two are dating' James added
'We are not dating !' Jessy exclaimed.
'I saw you two at the restaurant being all lovey Dovey' Sam pointed out.
'So I'm the only single one here ? I mean even Jake is dating Ivy so I demand there be some sort of prize for that'
"We are not together " Jessy tried convincing everybody one thing led to another, it was so nostalgic sitting with these people again and talking, arguing and fighting but worse part was Jake was the one who introduced me to them, it was almost impossible to not think about him.
'Hey is that Jake ?' James asked pointing into a distance.
'Yea it is' Sam replied
'Jake !!' James called out. Please no !please no !please no ! my heart cried for it, please don't be Jake, but alas all in vain, it was him breath taking as ever. He was with Ivy, with every step they took closer my heart sank deeper. I can't face him not with Ivy, never ! My head yelled only one thing, get up and leave and so I did, I got up. Mike knew what was going on, Ashley and I had talked to him before leaving for the cafe, he held my hand and pushed me down again 'clear the misunderstanding' he advised.
'What misunderstanding?' James asked.
'Hey guys' Jake said ,as he was close enough.
'And Where have you been ?' James asked.
'The new Cafe' he replied.
'You went together ?' Sam asked looking at me.
'No, he went with me' Ivy said holding her boyfriends arm 'obviously'
"Hey Julie so like I'm curious" he looked at me smiling 'wasn't like stealing one of my friends enough for you ?' ... So it began, he already had the upper hand, a perfect gf hanging by his arm and perfection itself.
'I didn't steal any of your friends' I clarified not being able to meet his gaze.
'I'm not so sure about that'
'Well You should be' I replied
I got up and started walking away.
'hey don't leave' Sam stopped me by blocking my way.
' I think, I should go'
'Stay a while longer' James insisted
'Guys I don't know what's going on but when was the last time all six of us got together like this ?' Jessy asked. 'listen it's been a long time but I don't want to get into anymore trouble ,we'll catch up later'
'You won't have to get into trouble if you stop stealing my friends !' Jake said loudly, his eyes cold as ever, I could feel goosebumps on my skin.
'Stop it Jake!' Sam yelled back at him.
'You stay out of this!'
'Think about what you're doing' Jessy advised
'what am I an idiot ?!'
'don't yell at her !" Mike defended his girlfriend.
'Oh so all of you are ready to take her side against me ?' Jake inquired
'Guys chill !! Calm down' James shouted 'I'm Still trying to figure out what happened .... So what happened?'
'Let me tell you I introduced her to you guys! if it wasn't for me you guys wouldn't have even met and now you're all against me for her!?' he said pointing at me with hateful eyes.
'I can't help but to laugh at the way you're talking' Sam told him
'excuse me'
'we aren't your toys if you and Julie got into a fight we aren't obliged to choose sides now what is the real fight about ?' She asked him
'ask my so called best friend Mike' Jake pointed at him.
'dude I just found out today from her and it's false I'm not dating Julie, I'm with Jessica' he said putting his arm around Jessy .
'stop lying he saw the proof' Ivy attacked speaking for the first time.
'I know everything at least don't lie to my face!' Jake shouted. James, Mike and Sam all started yelling and shouting.
'Please stop it' I whispered holding Mike's and Sam's arms 'stop it !'
'Fine I won't hangout with them' I said looking up at Jake.
"Now you say that, after making him look like a complete idiot " Ivy said.
'.. as for Mike even if I was dating him you still would've had no right to be mad at me because you're dating Ivy, aren't you ?'he didn't reply to that 'And You didn't mean a word you said to me that night did you?'I said slowly, he was quite he opened his mouth to say something but I stopped him.
'don't bother, I'll stay out of your way and you stay out of mines and if that means I don't hang out with these people than be it!' I had tears in my eyes as I walked off. I could hear James lecturing Jake and Ivy pulling him away.
