Percival looks down on us from the second floor. His looks immediately capture my attention. If I thought Ryner was hot, then Percival definitely tops the cake. His stunning blonde hair and cobalt blue eyes make him look like he belongs in a modeling agency and not some weird guild. He has this wild and untamed look which makes me immediately drawn to him. His rough look is topped off with an unshaven face.
Then I think back to what he had just said. Had he just read my mind? I know I wasn't wondering about him out loud.
"Welcome to Folk Legends Linda. I'm Percival, as you might have already guessed."
We all stare in shock and admiration.
"Wow, can you believe he said more than one sentence?" Nora whispers over to Leon.
My mouth stays shut. Who is this guy? Why does he have to be so perfect? I look over towards Ryner. I'm standing in a room with two Gods - although one is a real God and the other isn't - and I think I might just pee myself. The struggle is real.
"So you've come to join the guild?" Percival asks. I slowly nod my head, because my tongue is too heavy for me to speak. "Let's begin with the tests then. Leon, go ahead."
Leon steps forward and motions me to come along with him. I start to follow him, but then I remember Percival. I turn my head back towards him only to find him leaving.
So he's just going to leave? He's not even going to stay to see my test results? What a butthole, I think and continue after Leon.
We leave the main room of the first floor until we hit a flight of stairs leading us down. So this place has three stories and a basement. Well then. As we trudge down the steps, my mind wanders back to the mysterious Percival. Why is his nickname The Killer? Who gave him that name? Why does he have that weird vibe? Is it because he's an O Theós? Surely there's got to be something about him that I'm missing. Leon is obviously Percival's right hand man, yet even Leon hardly knows anything about him. Is Percival one of those people who make others earn his trust or something?
Leon shakes me out of my thoughts when he opens a door, creaking loudly enough to startle me.
"In you go."
I hesitate to go inside. Hopefully this time a dagger won't come flying out of nowhere. As soon as I walk inside however, I realize that flying daggers may be better than this.
"Is Percival going to watch or something?"
Leon shakes his head. "No. Percival leaves all of the test evaluations to me. He has a lot of other things on his plate as the guild leader."
That was a huge stab to my ego. So I wasn't good enough for him to watch me? I'll show him just how freaking good I am. I'm going to ace this test. It should be easy anyways.
"First, I'm going to give you some advice. You don't have to use your magic on the tests if you don't want to, but trust me, it'll be a lot harder if you don't. Even little spells come a long way. Your test is going to be a lot longer than previous tests because I need to get some information on what kind of a witch you are. Now, the first test is somewhat of a lie detector. I will ask you a series of questions and you will have to answer without lying. If you lie, a needle with a pain serum inside will be plunged into your skin. You have three lies. Once you've lied three times, you have failed and you can no longer continue the test. And don't think you can get away with lying. Our lie detector is one hundred percent accurate because it's me. All clear?"
All I can do is gawk. "Are you serious?"
I can't believe it's come to this. It'll only be a few more moments before he figures out I'm not who I say I am. I have a past that I don't want anyone to know, yet Leon is so close to unearthing it.
