"So you're practically dragging a sick person with you to the top of a dormant volcano in hopes that this egg," Ryner points over to the egg that's wrapped in multiple blankets in the trunk, "will revive the dormant volcano and make it active again. Do you know how stupid that sounds?!" he asks from the passenger seat.

I roll my eyes. "Please. You were never even sick to begin with. Besides, you're the only one I can trust and now is the perfect time to test this out because the rest of the guild has disappeared. They'll never know."

"Well if a volcano becoming active again after hundreds of years isn't proof enough to the guild that you're up to something, then I don't know what is."

"You act like we're going to get caught."

"Well we're bound to. You don't even know if the dragon can do this! I don't even think the dragon can do this. It's a baby! It isn't even hatched yet! How is it going to revive a whole volcano?!"

"Have faith!" I say. "The scroll said that dragons will go through a lot to get warmth when they're ready to hatch."

"So they choose when to hatch? That's insane."

"No it isn't. Now would you quit your yapping? We're almost to the point where we have to walk the rest of the way."

"Umm excuse you! Who's going to carry the egg?!"

"You obviously. You can use your volitant spell."

"That'll drain my magic and I don't have that much left because of my condition. Why don't you do it? Leon gave you those restraint bracelets like a week ago. You haven't tried any magic since. I think you have enough restraint bracelets where you'll have just enough power to perform the spell you need."

I continue to steer the car, not looking once at Ryner. How could I ever trust my magic again? After hitting him with that lightning, I know that my magic is still as dangerous as it was seven years ago. I look towards my arm, holding the eight restraint bracelets. Eight. It takes eight of these things to contain my magic power when for a regular beginner, it only takes about one to three. My magic is way too dangerous to be trusted.

"Come on Linda," Ryner continues. "That lightning wasn't your fault."

Suddenly I burst. "Yes it was my fault! Don't you get it?! That was my magic! My magic targeted you because I was angry at you and so while I was asleep, it decided to act of its own accord." I lower my head and refuse to look at him, aware that tears are spilling down my cheeks. "My lightning hit you because it acts on my emotions and I don't know how to control it."

When I finally turn to look at Ryner, his face is set in a grim expression. He seems to be thinking everything through. He isn't looking towards me, and I can't make out what he's feeling. Then, he turns to me with a look of anger.

"Well say what you want, but I know you didn't mean to do it! That wasn't you. That was your magic so it still isn't your fault! I know you can do this spell Linda. You're a strong, kind, and faithful individual, but you seem to lose faith whenever it comes to you. You shouldn't though, because you've got this! Just believe in yourself for once."

The car comes to a stop as I tap the brakes.

"We're here," I say with a sniffle and wipe away my tears. "Let's go." We head to the back of the car to grab the egg. When I open the trunk, the egg is shaking tremendously. I stroke the egg. "We're almost there," I say to it. Then I close my eyes and concentrate completely on the egg and the blankets surrounding it. I clear my mind of everything else. "Volitant," I chime with as much confidence as I can and raise my fingers.
