"Focus Linda. Feel the magic inside of you."

My eyebrows are pinched together as I try to focus as hard as can. Finally, I give up.

"I can't do this Leon! I've got way too much going on in my head!"

"Have you tried clearing it out?"

"Of course I've tried clearing it out! I've tried a hundred times already, but everything keeps coming back!" I rub my temples with the fingertips of my hands. My eyes are closed so that I don't let out any tears. "Is there something wrong with me? Is that why this isn't working?"

Leon sighs. "I think it's just the pressure of taking off the bracelets. You're down to four bracelets and you're doing great. It's just the power inside of you is finally being set free and it wants to take over. Don't let it. You can do this Linda."

My eyes shoot open. You can do this Linda. The words bring me back to when I'm on Mount Svilner with Ryner. He had said the same thing. I had trusted him and I ended up being able to do a spell all by myself. I think about that moment and let every other thought go. Soon, my mind is as empty as an abandoned warehouse.

I concentrate my eyes on the book in front of me. It's in pretty bad shape considering how old it looks and the flimsy chewed up cover, isn't doing it any justice. The book is pretty huge too. Being about four inches in width, it must have over two thousand pages, making it extremely heavy. Leon wants me to drag the book towards myself with just my mind. Talk about mental exhaustion! I've tried three times, but to no avail. This time though, I'm going to do it. I'm sure of it.

"Veniat ad me," I say confidently, willing the book to come towards me.

My eyebrows begin to pinch together again and a bead of sweat starts forming on my forehead, but I don't let it phase me. When the book starts moving towards me, I don't blink in shock or excitement that I actually moved it. I'm determined to move it all the way until it's directly in front of me and I won't stop until then.

Inch by inch, the book begins coming closer. Another bead of sweat begins to form, but I pretend like I can't feel it. I'm going to get this book over here no matter what. You can do this Linda, I hear Leon and Ryner say together and that keeps me going. These people have my back.

Finally, after multitudes of sweat have fallen from my forehead and my eyebrows are practically joined as one, the book is in front of me. I break out into a smile and Leon barrels me into a hug.

"You did it Linda! Congratulations!" He then places the book even farther away. "Now do it again," he says with a genuine smile.

I gawk. How can he do that?! He acted like I moved the book with no big deal! All Leon does is wink. He nods his head towards the book and looks towards me expectantly. With a grunt, I focus on the book again. You're doing this to get better Linda. He's only trying to help you.

"Veniat ad me," I repeat.

After about two seconds, the book begins its journey to me again. Is it just me, or was that way easier to do than I thought it would be? I don't lose concentration and continue to look at the book as it travels across Leon's floor. Only a few moments later, the book is in front of me once again. A satisfied grin takes over my face.

Leon's smile gets even bigger. "Did you feel how much easier that was?"

I nod my head in confusion. "Yeah. How did you know?"

"Well, you're just getting more in control of your magic. Here, let's do a spell that we did when we first started your training back up."

Leon grabs a pen from his pencil holder and sets it down on the floor. Then he grabs some paper. I groan. I remember this spell. It was a pain in the butt! Basically what I had to do was command the pen to write and everything that I said would be written down. It took me three whole days to finally be able to get the pen to do what I wanted, but the writing was still pretty wobbly even after that.
