Madeline's POV
The concert is amazing. The boys mess around with stuff thrown onstage (I still don't understand why people throw stuff) and about halfway through, Luke finds me and points right at me, causing screams to erupt around me from everyone who thinks he's pointing to them. I know for a fact it was meant for me though.
The concert ends with She Looks So Perfect, and the entire crowd sings along, adding the "heys" at just the right times.
It's very late by the time Helena and I finally escape, so late that I decide to just book a hotel room so we can drive back in the morning. I go somewhat cheap, since we spent most of our money on merch.
Helena falls asleep as soon as her head comes in contact with pillow, but I'm a little more restless. I stare up at the ceiling and think about today.
All of the 5SOS members recognized me. I hugged every one of them. I sang for them, and they liked it. Where is all of this going? Is this just a one time thing? Will this all be over tomorrow?
I can see it. The boys delete the DM, ignore me completely, Luke wipes my number from his phone. I'll be all alone again, staring at a screen.
My phone buzzes on the table beside me. I look over at Helena in the other bed for a moment, but she just lets out a snore and rolls over so her back is facing me. I check my messages.
Hey.
Hey.
Can't sleep?
Nah. Thinking over today. U guys were great by the way.
Thanks :) I'm glad u liked it. I'm assuming u noticed me pointing at u during Good Girls?
Me and 50 other girls. It was nice of u.
Lol. Sorry if I embarrassed u at all.
Why do u say that?
Oh, I don't know. I gave u my number and ur friend didn't know. A ton of fans probably heard her screaming.
Please, that was my fault, not urs, Lukey-Boy.
Hey, that's Dr. Fluke to u.
Whatever, quiff-man.
Stop it! I'm trying to have a serious conversation!
About what? This is getting pretty hard to follow.
Ugh, ur a pain, u know that?
Do u really care?
...
Haha! Success! I have silenced the infamous Lukey-Boy-Quiff-Man!!
It's not that hard to do u know.
Still!
Ur tired, aren't u?
What makes u say that?
I get hyper when I'm tired sometimes.
Oh, shut up >:(
Lol. But seriously, go to sleep. Ur in for a surprise tomorrow! ;)
What??? What are u not telling me?
U will see tomorrow! Sweet dreams, Madeline.
All right, good night, I guess.
Sleep well.
I shut off my phone and turn on my side. Luke is going to surprise me? He doesn't even know where I live, or where I am right now! Unless he's stalking me. I shiver a little. I love Luke, but that would just be plain creepy.
I drift off to sleep with only Luke in mind.
*******
I wake up to my phone ringing once again.
"Hello?"
"Come to the dining area."
The line goes dead.
Was that Luke? It didn't exactly sound like him. Whoever it was, how do they know who I am or where I am?
I shrug a little and get out of my messy bed. Helena is still sleeping, so I leave her and walk silently down to the dining area, smoothing out my shirt and running a hand through my hair. I'm wearing the same thing as yesterday, since I didn't bring extra clothes.
I turn into the dining room and spot Luke and the other boys at the the buffet, right at the end of the line. I slide next to Luke and start putting a few strawberrys on my plate.
"So, is this your big surprise?" I say so only he hears.
"Yes, as a matter of fact," he replies, choosing a piece of bacon.
"We're in a shabby hotel's dining room. Very exciting. Luke Hemmings, you have officially won at life."
"Hey, I went out of my way to get us here. We're traveling the country on a tour bus, we don't normally stop at hotels," he explains.
"So, why exactly did you stop here?"
His face goes a little red. "I knew you would be here."
"What? How?"
"This was the cheapest hotel around, I had hoped you would have spent a bunch of cash on merch or something, and it was late by the time the concert ended, so I assumed you wouldn't be going home yet."
"Stalker!" I laugh, and he joins in.
We finish getting food and travel over to the table the other boys are sitting at.
"Hey, Madeline, you just keep popping up, don't you?!" Ashton says in mock surprise.
"Please, I should be saying that to you! You do realize that it's kind of weird for famous people to randomly meet up with fans, right?"
"Well then, this shouldn't be weird, since we don't consider ourselves famous," Luke says, and I roll my eyes.
"No matter how much you try to convince yourselves of that, you know it isn't true. You're number 1 in over 40 countries. You're not making covers with crappy audio on YouTube anymore."
The boys smile lightly, as though they're remembering. I smile, too. I still love looking back at their Teenage Dirtbag cover, where Luke was embarrassed to say the D word, if you know what I mean.
"Anyway, Madeline. This isn't the only surprise," Michael says mysteriously.
I look at him in a slightly disturbed way. "What do you mean?"
The boys smile slyly at each other, then Calum says, "We want your help with something."
"What?"
"We only have a few more shows in the US, then we're going to LA to write some songs and record," Calum begins.
"We have a pretty good song idea, but it's missing something," Ashton continues.
"And what would that be?"
The boys grin at each other, then Luke says, "You."
