"He's awake."

I lift my head from Ashton's now wet shirt.

He's awake.

My superhero is finally awake.

Two long weeks I waited. They were going to pull the plug soon. No definite time, but soon.

But now they don't have to.

Because he's awake.

"Can we see him?" Calum asks, squeezing Riley's shoulder lightly.

The doctor nods. "Follow me, please."

We weave through the maze of hallways and staircases until we finally reach the horrible room that I've spent day and night in for the past two weeks. If you're wondering why I'm not in there now, it's because his vital signs were failing before. I had to be taken out. The boys and Riley were in the lobby for me, though.

When we're at the door, the doctor turns on his heel and stops us.

"Now, I just need to tell you all something," he begins, rubbing his hands together. "He had a concussion. He needed stitches. He fell from a mix of heat stroke and cancer. His brain was addled a bit when his head hit the amplifier."

"We know all this already," Michael says slowly as he and the other two boys surround Riley and me protectively.

"I'm not finished." The doctor frowns. "He's lost a bit of memory. He can still form proper sentences and he can read and wrote just fine, but other than that, we aren't sure how far his memory will extend. I just want to warn you of this before you see him. He won't be exactly as you remember him."

"Okay, okay, now can we see him already?" I demand, then grow a but more feeble. "Please?"

The doctor sighs, then opens the door for us.

My smile falters when I see him. He's sitting up, but his hair has grown limp and is matted down to his forehead now, and his usually bright blue eyes are pale and dull.

This doesn't stop me from running over to him and throwing my arms around him.

After a few seconds, when I realize he isn't returning the favor, I pull away. He's searching my face with curious eyes.

"Sorry," Luke says, "but who are you?"
