Luke's POV
I nearly drop the phone that I was trying to save in the first place. This has to be the same Riley girl from before. Why in the world would she follow Michael and call her account that of all things? It seems like kind of a strange move.
Glancing over at Michael, who pulls his arm in and rolls over so his back is facing me, I move back to my bed, unlocking his phone to check out this girl's account.
Her profile picture mimics the girl that I had seen in New York, brown-haired with a blue stripe. She looks happy, not at all like the kind of girl who would be as mean and rude as Madeline has made her out to be.
Then I see her latest post.
It's a picture I posted on my birthday of Madeline and me smiling, but it's edited. There's a bold, red X through on top of the picture, cutting through both of our faces. I'm scared to look at the caption.
"This whole 'Maduke' thing is stupid. She totally doesn't deserve Luke, no one does. She's a stupid, starstruck, untalented teenager who doesn't know anything about anything. If you don't agree, then unfollow. I don't give an eff."
I gasp a little. I can't let Madeline see this. She'll break down, I know she will. I can't let that happen. Not now, not when I'm so close.
I go even further by blocking her. On Michael's account, no less. I'm an idiot sometimes. But I'm not letting her watch us. I'm scared now.
After a few more minutes of minor stress, I manage to fall into a restless sleep.
"Luke?"
"Madeline?"
"Luke, I'm scared, please, help me!"
"What? Mad, where are you? Why can't I see?"
I start walking with my arms out in front of me, blindly searching for the source of her voice.
"I'm over here, Luke, hurry!"
I bump into a figure.
"Mad?"
I hear a match being struck, and the dim light illuminates the wrong face.
"R-Riley?"
She laughs a horrible laugh, and it echoes around the dark space.
"What are you doing here? What do you want?" I demand, but she only laughs louder.
"WHERE IS MADELINE? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HER?" I yell, though I don't know why.
"Luke!" Madeline's voice slips through Riley's lips, and my eyes widen in horror. "Luke, help me! I'm scared, I can't move, where am I?"
"What did you do with her?" I shout, grabbing Riley by the shoulders and shaking her so hard that the match drops to the ground, making a hissing noise.
That's when I hear the explosion.
Iwakeup screaming. Sunlight is streaming through the window, and I have no clue what time it is.
Ashton, Michael, and Calum come rushing in. Ash bends down next to my bed on one knee, feeling my forehead worriedly.
"Luke, why did you scream? What's wrong?" Calum asks, crouching next to Ashton.
"It...I dreamed...Madeline...Where's Madeline?" I pant, pulling away from Ash's hand.
"I'll go check on her. She had kind of a long night," Michael says, exiting the room, leaving me with my two nurses.
