Madeline's POV
I wake up the next morning with Luke snoring lightly beside me. His hair is still styled in a quiff, messy and all over. I run my hand through it slowly, waking him.
"Morning," he says, his voice raspy from sleep.
"Morning."
"What time is it?"
I look at my iPod. "10 minutes to 10."
He rolls onto his back and stares up at the ceiling, then sighs. I put my chin on his chest, making him crane his neck at me.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know. Just tired, I guess."
I giggle. "We went to bed at like 11, how are you tired?"
"Jesus, I'm still a teenager, I'm allowed to be tired whenever I want."
I roll my eyes and sit up, startling Luke.
"What are you doing?" he asks, rubbing his left eye.
"What does it look like? We have work to do." I shoot back, getting out of the bed and going over to my dresser to pull out some clothes.
"Like what?"
"Well, I got a YouTube and a guitar last night, may as well get started on one of them."
"Alright then, Miss Sassypants," Luke grumbles, getting out of my bed as well and pulling his shirt on. I grin as I pull out my clothes, then head to the small bathroom off my room.
"I'm going to just get ready quick. I'll be out in 15 minutes, tops," I tell him. He pulls out his phone and starts doing something on it. "What are you doing?"
"Setting a timer," he answers simply.
"I didn't mean-"
"Your time starts...now."
I mutter under my breath, then go into the bathroom, doing my daily routine quickly. I wash my face, do my hair and makeup, and get dressed at top speed, then finally exit the bathroom.
"Time?" I call to Luke, who's sitting on the bed with his back to the bathroom.
He looks over his shoulder and says, "13 minutes, 42 seconds."
"Told you," I smirk as he stands and strides over to me.
"You always have to be right, don't you?" he asks, tucking a loose lock of hair behind my ear.
"Yup."
"Come on, I'm hungry. Do we have anymore chocolate chips?"
"No, Michael ate them all when we got back last night, remember?"
"Oh, right. Ever tried Vegemite?"
I shake my head. "I've never been out of Idaho before this. I haven't really had the chance to try lots of new things."
"Oh, man, I want to see your reaction really bad now." Luke rubs his hands together and grins.
I'm a little uneasy about this, but I follow him to the kitchen anyway. He reaches up to a high cabinet, one that I would have never been able to reach, and pulls down a jar with the infamous word written boldly across it.
I gulp as he spreads it thinly on a piece of toast, then hands it to me.
"Do I really have to do this?" I ask him.
"Come on," he laughs. "Try new things! You'll add 6 months onto your life!"
"Where did you get that from?"
