Part 5: Warning, warning

Variel POV

After I brushed off Darius staring at me at the exact moment Lora told me about last year as just a coincidence, Lora and I headed to the barn to start on our homework seeing as it was free period after Design. It looked like Tyler and Josh had a free period too because they were there as well. I hope Tyler doesn't stare at me again, he was kinda creepy at break.

As Lora and I sat down, she went and sat next to Josh, and that's when I remembered they were together. I sat across from the three of them, giving the boys a quick hello before getting out my English book. Even though I hoped to get at least some study done, no such luck.

"So, Variel, how are you liking it at Wellington High?" Tyler asked me after a while of writing. Lora's face showed a little look of alarm, and I gave her a sharp look back that reminded her of what I had said about Tyler earlier, and she went back to whispering to Josh as I turned to reply to Tyler.

"I think it's rather big if I'm being honest. A lot bigger than my old school anyways." I try to make it a little obvious I didn't really want to talk but my guess is that Tyler isn't the brightest when it comes to hints because he continues talking.

"Well I guess that is to be expected if I'm being honest. I'm sure you will get used to it."

"Yea." I mumble. I don't mean to be rude I just don't want him to get the wrong idea. I suddenly stand up and the three of them give me a questioning look. I mutter about wanting to just go for a walk and Lora and Josh nod while Tyler continues to stare.

As I grab my bag and begin down the path turning a few corners, I hear footsteps behind me. I glance over my shoulder to see Tyler jogging after me, I sigh.

"Hey again Variel." He said, breathing slightly heavily.

"What do you want Tyler?" I snap. I am beginning to get really annoyed with him and he wasn't helping in ignoring my obvious hint in leaving by following me.

"Oh nothing, just though you might want some company." He replies cheerfully, ignoring my angry tone.

OH, MY GOSH! "Tyler," I begin, really struggling to not shout at him to get lost. "I left because I want to be alone. And you following me isn't really helping with that is it?"

His eyes look a bit confused but he replies. "Oh, right ok, well I'll see you later?"

I roll my eyes quickly. "Yes. I'll be seeing you." And with that I turn around and walked away from him, my temper threatening to blow with frustration.

"Wow, he cannot take a hint can he?" A low voice says to the side of me. I turn to see the boy that I had so recently learned to avoid. "Darius." I say. What does he want?

"Ah, she knows my name. I wonder if I know hers. Variel correct?"

"Umm yea. Can I help you?" I say to him, my tone slightly annoyed.

"You could, but I guess that is up to you." His dark eyes were so, emotionless. Devoid of life. So, unnatural.

"Well depends on what you want." I'm a little intrigued now. But then, I remember Angeline and immediately back up.

Darius seems to notice the change in my attitude and his eyes give away something. Disappointment? Regret? Anger?

"Well, if I ever need any, I will be sure to let you know." And with that he turns and takes a few steps before quickly saying something over his shoulder. "Oh and that baby face of a boy you were talking to before, someone should teach him what a hint is. He might find it actually helps in not making a fool out of himself." I feel a smile stretch on my lips as Darius walks away, and I make my way back to the barn, the smile stuck to my face as I sat down and grabbed out my phone and started texting Lara.

Me: Hey

Lara: Hey Ri, what's up?

Me: Not much although I did make some new friends.

Lara: That's good. Who are they?

Me: Well there is this main girl who I think you would like her name is Aria, and then her friends Michelle, Miley and Lora. They hang out with these three guys too, Michelle's twin brother Ben and his friends Tyler and Josh.

Lara: Oh wow that is a lot of friends for your first day. Better not forget me! ;)

Me: Don't worry, how could I? You are my bestie.

Lara: Damn right you are haha! Meet anyone else?

Me: Well...There is this guy..

Lara: Why the dots?

Me: Well, he seems nice enough but I've been warned that he is... Dangerous. Like murder dangerous.

Lara: Ok. for a moment I was excited for you but now.... Variel stay away.

Me: I will. We only talked once anyways.

Lara: Keep it that way.

Me: Will do mum.

Lara: Haha. Well I have to go but I'll talk to you later.

Me: Ok then bye.

The bell rings for lunch above my head. Well that was good timing. Aria, Miley, Michelle and Ben soon join us and we talk about the day and the classes we had. I'm grateful for the distraction but somewhere in the back of my head, my mind still wonders about the mysterious boy with the dark eyes...
