Darius POV
I can't believe it.
I had left Noah's side when I heard shouting, fearing the worst. I was shocked at what I saw. Variel was yelling at one of the rouges and she looked furious. I saw Miley try to hold her back but she ignored her, she continued to yell at the rouge, who was looking slightly worried. I small wave of pride came over me. When I first met Variel, she didn't seem to be an Alpha. Maybe a Beta. But it never occurred to me that this part of her was just never in use. A level headed Alpha is a great Alpha.
As I continued to watch, slightly amused even considering the recent circumstances, Variel all of a sudden let out a blood-curdling scream. She crumpled to the ground and I ran to her in an instant. At first I thought she had injured herself and only just noticed but as soon as I heard a bone splitting crack, I knew what was happening. All of us did, we had all been there, our first shift. It was the most painful out of all our shifts. The sooner the better, that way you get used to it.
I myself had had my first shift when I was 12. I had been while I was with some of my younger life's friends. They had gotten my mother who helped me through it.
I was at Variel's side now, where she was withering in pain. Miley was on her other side, her eyes widened with shock while Amy, Brad and Hazel looked on with the two rouges.
Variel continued to scream and I continued to watch. There was nothing we could do. Her wolf had been activated and now it was coming through. She then began to shift as her bones continued to pop and shift. I could feel Miley wince at them, she had been one of the unlucky wolves with their first shift. She had stopped half way and broken a few bones.
Variel continued to change before Miley and I and as she grew in size, I grabbed Miley's wrist and dragged her away, we had to give Variel space, she would be confused and possibly overwhelmed.
Variel's screams slowly dies down as her human face turned into a wolves.
The shift was complete.
All was quiet as we waited for her to move. It took a moment, but she slowly stood up.
Her wolf was completely different to mine. It was light and dark brown with hints of a rusty red. She had eye patterns around her now brown eyes. And she was surprisingly large for a wolf. About as large as Noah.
She looked terrified as she realized what had happened. The whites of her wolf's eye were showing and she was snarling. We had to calm her down if we didn't want her to attack anyone. I called out to Vince.
Me: We need to calm her down if we want her to not accidentally kill anyone. Her strength is being propelled by her fear, so once we calm her down she won't be a risk to the others.
Vince: How do you propose we do that Alpha?
Me: I have an idea....

Variel POV
My heart was racing faster and faster as I began to panic. This can not be happening. How could I be a werewolf? I hadn't even known they existed until earlier today for goodness sake let alone I was one!
Somewhere in the back of my mind I could feel another presence. Something I had never noticed before until I shifted. It was awakening. For some reason I called out to it, somehow knowing that I had nothing to fear.
Me: Hello? Who are you?
The thing didn't answer but I had a strong feeling come over me. It was my wolf.
My wolf: I am Emiza, your wolf, your other half. You have finally awakened the part of your mind that held me when you shifted into my body. I am no longer a passenger. I am the driver, and so are you. I am you, you are me. We are one.
I could feel my head spinning. I had read some stories where werewolves have this wolf in the back of their minds, but knowing it was true was just, impossible.
Me: Do you know what is happening to me? Why am I werewolf? How did I not know?
Aria: You are shifting for the first time. As for how you did not know, I only know as much as you do on that topic.
All of a sudden my mind was drawn from my wolf and it started to pay attention to the things going on around me. There were three wolves. One red, one gray and one black.
All of them heading towards me. I felt like I knew them but my mind had been stuffed into a situation that I didn't know how to handle, so it did the only thing I could. I ran.
I leapt away from them over a log and sprinted for dear life. I covered ground so quickly and it shocked me. I enjoyed this, running through the woods with the wind in my fur and the forest floor beneath my paws, but the moment was cut short.
I lost the three wolves and instead came face to face with another that I didn't recognize. It was a male, large and gray. A memory flashed through my mind, and realization hit me at full force.
The three wolves I had been running from were Darius, Miley and Vince. And this wolf was the one that helped the rouge Alpha kill Noah.
The rage that had made me shift in the first place floated back to the surface and I snarled at the dark gray wolf. He looked amused.
"So," He rumbled as he sat down. "You are the human. Oh sorry-were- the human. Who would have guessed you would have turned out to be a werewolf?"
How can this, jerk act like nothing happened? He tried to kill me far out. I let out another snarl. I tense my legs as I prepare to leap. The wolf laughed, if wolves could laugh. It was more like a chuckle. I growl.
"What do you want flea bag? A little while back you seemed eager to try and kill me, what changed?" I show him my fangs. "Or is it because I'm a werewolf now and your just a chicken?"
His eyes flash before he stuffs whatever emotion he felt down. "Listen here mutt." He growls as he takes a step forward. "You have only just shifted, for the first time. You are young, foolish and inexperienced. I could kill you right here, right now."
I felt my hackles raise, but I knew it was true. I take a step back. "True. But if you were going to kill me, you would have done so already."
He snarls low. "Don't tempt me, I still can."
All of a sudden I hear voices erupt into my mind consisting of Miley and Darius. I shake my head at the noise. I'm guessing this is the mind link that the werewolves use. Its loud, too loud. I take a couple of steps away from the gray wolf and continue to shake my head. My mind is pounding.
All of a sudden, I collapse. My eyes crack open just a tiny bit as I try to bite back a whimper. It escaped between my teeth and I curse. I can see the gray wolf studying me, his head cocked to the side. Studying, assessing. My eyes close, and I welcome the darkness.
