-AMALIA-

"I will always protect you, Amalia. No matter what happens, I will always be there."

I rubbed my eyes to make my vision clearer. I need to know the person who just saved me. I need to thank him.

I looked left to right to see him. But the problem is he already left.

The explosion finally stopped and the royal guards from our kingdom finally came. My mom was running towards me and gave me a crushing hug.

"Mom, stop squishing me!" I whined and she let go of me.

* * *

"Sweetie, your father and I are going to go on a royal meeting with everyone," my mother said as she waved goodbye.

As I stared at my mom's figure that was disappearing, I rushed down the halls to the kitchen.

I barged in the kitchen and the people inside stopped from what they were doing and stared at me.

"Your Highness, you're not allowed in here. Au revoir princesse!" hissed the royal chef as he waved the rolling pin.

I chuckled at the royal chef and said, "I'm going to the secret garden, Gavin."

"Oh! Oui, oui! Go now!" said Gavin with his french accent as he pushed me gently towards the emergency exit leading to a door of the pathway to the secret garden. It's been months since I've visited it.

The pathway was surrounded by brightly colored flowers and orange and red leafy colored trees.

I stopped on my tracks when the door of the secret garden was open. Someone is also here! But who could it be? I am the only one who knew the secret passage.

I quickly entered the garden to see who it was. And there I saw, a person wearing a black coat. His back was facing me, that's why I can't point out who the person is. But I'm sure the person is a guy because of his broad shoulders and tall figure. And he looks familiar. He looks like someone I met in the village.

"Finally, we meet again," the person said as he slowly faces me and walks toward my direction.

He has emerald green eyes, pointed nose, brown hair, and pinkish kissable li- Wait a minute, what am I thinking?! Geez Amalia, focus!

"What do you mean we met before?" I asked as I furrowed my eyebrows at him.

"Well, let me introduce myself to you. I'm Charles Ro-" he said but I cut him off.

"Charles Romeo Montagna, what a coincidence, huh," I glared at him.

"Oh, I'm glad that you know my name already. Mind if telling me yours?" he teased, smirking at me with amusement.

"Stop with your childish games, Montagna. You won't win," I said confidently. But deep down, I'm doubting. Why? I also don't know why.

"Love, I'm not playing. I'm just being friendly," he smirked as he gently caressed my cheek.

I slapped his hand away. I growled out of annoyance. But I can still see in his eyes was pure amusement. How dare this man touch me?!
