-CHARLES-

I saw how she's happy with Marcus. I saw how she's safe in his arms. And it pained me a lot. It hurts that he can keep her safe, and I can't. It hurts to see that he can make her happy in many ways, and I can't. Because I have no choice but to hurt her.

I'm suffering as I see them together. And I allowed them to, even though it hurts. I love her, but she will never know. I care for her, but she will ever see that I really do. I call for her, but she can't hear me. And she won't and never will.

"Your Highness, the King wants to talk to you," one of the guards said. I just nodded in response and followed him.

-AMALIA-

We're running back towards the kingdom while clouds of smoke filled the air. I can't breathe properly since the air is too painful to inhale. My head started to spin, my pace started to slow down and my vision started to blur.

"Amalia? Amalia! You have to stay awake love!" I felt someone shaking me. And in an instant, my vision became blank.

I felt someone carrying me. I opened my eyes and saw Marcus carrying me bridal style as he was running in the royal halls.

"Mars? What's happening?" I mumbled as I slowly looked at where we are going. And it seems we're going towards the safe room down the basement.

"Hold on, love. We're almost there," he said as I heard another explosion. And there, I was now fully awake and fear surrounds my whole body.

We finally entered the safe room where my parents, the maids, and the King and Queen of Teaves is resting. My parents looked through the door and fear and worry were seen in their eyes. Marcus let me down as my mother ran up to me and hugged me tightly.

"Oh, my daughter! I'm sorry! Are you all alright? Are you hurt? Where were you?" she cried as she caressed my hair.

"Mom, I'm totally fine. You may let go of me now," I whispered as I guide her to sit down and be calm.

"You don't know how worried I am when there was an explosion and realized that you both are outside the palace!" mom said as she sobbed and covered her face. My father walked towards her and caressed her back while whispering soft and calming words as he hugged and cradled her.

Marcus pulled me in his arms and hugged me. I felt safe, but incomplete because I don't feel anything for him anymore. And it's breaking me seeing the person whom I'm going to marry sees me only as his sister. And it also hurts that we're going to be married to each other even though we don't love each other more than best friends. Well... that's what I know.

I heard another explosion. And it's a loud one. One of the maids let out a startling scream which made us jump. Another one was having a panic attack and the others tried to calm her down.

Everything that is happening is confusing to me. I don't know what's happening nor what I'm doing right now.

My parents and the King and Queen of Teaves was reading a letter. "Cancel the marriage, or every one of you will suffer," the Queen of Teaves read it quietly and suddenly, she gasped.

I quickly walked towards them and looked at the letter that they're reading. I saw the three words that were written boldly. And it says, "Leave Amalia alone."

"No. We'll fight," my father said as he called the duke to order the guards that we'll fight. The King of Teaves was also prepared to fight and be allied with our kingdom.

Even though the North Kingdom and our kingdom can't stand each other, when it comes to protecting the whole country, they need to be allies.

I was born as a fighter and I know we'll win this war. My father allowed me to join the fight since I was trained very well.
