-AMALIA-
"Amalia, the Banquet Night is about to start. Nella is here to assist you with the dress," my mother, Queen Claudia, said as she opened the door and left.
"Your Highness, please be still as I carefully put your gown," Nella said.
As Nella helped me, I've been thinking about what to say. And since I'm the hostess of the Banquet Night, I should be prepared for my speech and some hostess's things.
"It was a pleasure to see all of you" But I dont even know them.
"Thank you for coming!" No, it sounds like a greeting in a restaurant.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen," I guess this is fine. I mean it works right?
"Are you excited to host the party, your Royal Highness?" Nella asked, as she helped me to straighten the tiara. Her question interrupted my thoughts. I didn't even notice that we're done.
"I'm very excited, Nella. Maybe this time, I hope to have the freedom to do my own decisions," I said.
I mean no one wants to do something that you don't want to do. I was always forced to do everything that would make the people of our kingdom proud. But am I happy? No. It always feels like I'm a slave rather than a princess. I always wanted to be a normal teenager living her normal life.
"Well, you'll soon have your freedom, your Highness. You'll be the future queen of the South. You may go to your party now, Your Highness," Nella said as she opened the door and winked.
I exited my room and walked down the staircase as I heard the violin and the piano playing behind closed doors of the ballroom.
Well, the spiral staircase is already killing me. Geez, it's the 21st century now, and father didn't think about putting any elevators in the palace.
When the guards saw me, they opened the door to let me enter the Grand Ballroom of the palace. And as I enter the ballroom, everyone was silent even the music that was just playing seconds ago. Everyone just stared at me.
Then, just a few seconds, everyone bowed to me as a sign of respect. Well, this is kind of embarrassing. The hostess seems to be a little late.
"Please continue your business," I said politely and bowed back.
The music started to play again and the guests started to dance with their partners.
"May I have this dance, princess?" someone asked me from behind. I turned around, and there I saw, standing in front of me was my cousin, Tyrone Capell.
"Oh my goodness! Tyrone, I can't believe you're here!" I squealed as I hugged him.
"Woah! Is that how a princess should act, Your Highness?" Tyrone asked teasingly. I stick out my tongue and punched Tyrone's stomach.
"Oof! Geez, Amalia, you act as if you're a guy," joked Tyrone as he laughed and offered his hand to me. And I quickly accepted it and then we danced together.
Later after one song, we stopped and went to get a drink. But when we're going to get a drink, someone caught our attention. It was Queen Alecia of Igleas.
"Oh, is that the queen you loved when we're kids?" I said teasingly. Tyrone glared at me but suddenly nodded. Well, that was a sudden reaction. I guess he changed.
"Then what are you waiting for? Go talk to her!" I said to my cousin as I pushed him to the direction where Queen Alecia is.
At the sight of Tyrone and Alecia talking, I smiled to myself.
I suddenly spotted three guys wearing black who were running towards the emergency exit of the palace.
Who could they be?
I tried to follow them, but something caught my attention. It was a small metal piece, more like a badge on the floor. And so, I picked it up, then suddenly, the lights in the palace shut off. The guests were panicking, and sounds of glasses shattering, broken strings and screams of girls were heard. And when the lights were back, the ballroom was a mess! Shattered glasses were on the floor, some ballgowns were ripped, the guests are in a panicked and confused state, the water fountain was like an erupting volcano. Everything is a mess.
I looked at my father who was so mad that his head was like a tomato. "Who did this?" my father, the King shouted in anger.
I looked at the metal that I was holding. And finally, it hit me. It was a badge that symbolizes the Montagna family, the North Kingdom. I gritted my teeth, throwing the badge into the broken fountain.
When I was about to exit the ballroom, I heard one of the guests said, "Did you know that the King of Montagna was going to have the horse show again?"
And there, I now know how to finally get my revenge.
I went upstairs and rushed to my bedroom. A few minutes later, someone knocked on the door and the door opened slowly revealing Nella.
"Your Highness, are you okay?" Nella asked while looking at me up and down to see if there are any scratches or wounds.
"Nella, I'm fine, thank you," I said while I smiled at her and squeezed her hand gently.
"But... I know who sabotaged the party, and I need your help," I said to Nella.
"I'm always here to help, princess," Nella said, then I gave Her the list that I need for tomorrow.
"And please no questions," I said, and Nella just bowed down and hurriedly exited my room.
"Well, well, Montagna. Revenge is coming in your way. I'm going to crush your stupid horse show just like how you crush my family's party," I whispered to myself quietly.
Suddenly, my mother, the queen entered the room. "Mother," I said and smiled.
"Amalia, are you okay?" my mother asked with concern in her eyes.
"Yes mother, I'm perfectly fine. But, the King is not fine," I said while shaking my head and sat on the bed.
"Well, your father is upset about what happened and wants to know who did it," mother said as she sat beside me.
"Mother, may I go to the village? Alone?" I asked my mother politely with pleading eyes.
"What? No! It's too dangerous," mother said as she quickly stood up.
"Please mother, I'm going to wear something so no one would recognize me. Please, just once. I want to be alone," I pleadingly said as I looked down the floor. My mother held my shoulder and sighed.
"Fine, you may go to the village alone. Just be careful, okay? I'm just concerned about you. You know how dangerous it is since some of the Montagna guards are there."
"I know mother, but I promise that I would be careful," I promised and hugged her.
Watch your back, Montagna. Its payback time.
