You stood from your place beside Loki seeing you were nearing a tower. Stark tower.

"What is this?" You asked.

"We are going to open the portal, from the top." He said pointing, you could faintly make out Erich Selvig with the Tesseract on top.

"Portal?" You asked. You never really thought about it, but you hadn't asked a single important question.

You know like, Why are you doing this? Why are you opening a portal? Why Midgard? Just, Why?

"Loki," You said reaching for his wrist. "What exactly are you doing with the Tesseract?" You asked turning to face him.

He looked down at you, a bit of doubt played at his features.

"You couldn't have just decided to come to Midgard and rage chaos, what's really going on here?" You asked.

"I am a king-" he tried.

"No, you are Asgard's king not this weak realms." You said. He slightly lifted his nose as if you'd complimented him, yet his face still stern.

"This isn't even about Thor, nor Odin." You figures watching his facial features. His eyes darted up to the right. "I-"

"Come Loki you're better at lying than this." You said. This time he kept his eyes glued to yours. If you wanted answers, you probably shouldnt have just challenged the god of mischief and lies.

His eyes never moved from yours. Staring straight into your soul. "This pathetic realm will feel my wrath, people will know I am the true god they need worship not my idiotic brother."

Damn. You truly couldn't tell if he was lying.

"Also, you are going to help me." He said not moving his gaze an inch. It wasn't a question.

"Help you what?" You said not faltering either. In an epic match of who's going to look away first.

"I have an army, the Chatauri." He said. His eyes now gazed over our entire face as it shifted to horror.

The Chatauri are an army of unknown creatures, there place even unknown to any man. Except Loki, now.

"The-" You choked trying desperately not to look away from him.

"Loki I can't be a part of this-" You said scared taking a step back. "It isn't as if I've summoned the phantoms, 'Nala." He assured. You gazed his eyes for a sign of teasing, but he was assuring you.

"Who showed you this power?" You all but whispered. Then the jet landed. Neither of you moved. Still not breaking the gaze. Loki frowned.

"You're truly not going to help me?" He asked almost pleadingly as the hatch to the quin jet opened, to let you off on the top floor of the tower.

Slowly, you shook your head.

Loki's face turned almost heartbroken.

" 'Nala- Shivanaala I need you, I need your help." He pleaded reaching a hand to take yours.

"You are the only person I still trust, my only friend," He said. You searched for a sign of a lie. Not a single tick.

"Please, help me." He asked. You swallowed your rebuttal, and squeezed on his hand as he was yours.

"Accompanying your demons will not rid them." You said. He swallowed, them lost as he looked to the floor.

As his gaze looked down your heart fell. Loki, has never let his guard down so much as he just had in one tiny gesture. He let out a deep breath.

"I cannot, allow you to fight against me- against them." He said Slowly, taking the time to finally shift his eyes back to meet with yours.

You clenched your jaw seriously, hoping to be able to fight this. The look, the look he was giving you. It was doing something to you, it was killing you.

His eyes were slightly glazed, like they were draped with a thin layer of tears threatening to slip down his cheek. His lips were parted just enough to feel the slight breeze of his breath brush your face as he exhaled.

His features softened, and for a moment you saw the old Loki.

The excited one. Whom you'd raced before on horses, wordlessly.

You and Loki have had many wordless moments.

The Loki who was always so excited to show you little magic tricks sneakily at the dinner table when you visited, and see your face light up.

Whom would glance as you each time he got a chance, because you'd never fail to acknowledge him and greet him kindly.

The Loki you'd always gone out of your way to be kind to. The Loki you knew before all the bull shit. Evil is not born, it's made, and it was beginning to build in him.

That scared you. But in this moment, every bit of hatred, fear, anguish, inequality, resentment and anger in him disappeared.

Your eyes connected. Care in yours, hope in his.

In this moment, you forgot he was the other side of the battle field than the one you initially stood.

"Shivannala," he finally broke the silence you let out a small sigh just from the sound of his voice as it had softened like his features.

"Please." He finished. You sighed slightly. You dropped your gaze to his wrist, slipping your hand to his forearm holding it as he quickly wrapped his hand around yours at well.

You closed your eyes for a slight moment, then looked to his eyes again.

"You know I would do anything to help you."
