The rest of the school day went by in a blur. I couldn't stop thinking about Jonathan. I mean, I almost went into typical school girl mode and wrote his name in hearts, but I knew better than that. At the end of the day I'm getting my things from my locker. When I look to my side I'm surprised by Jonathan's presence there.
"Hey. You surprised me" I said.
"Oh I did? Sorry." he responded.
"It's fine."
"So, not to be a creepy stalker or anything, but where do you live?"
"It's okay. But I live over on Ryan Avenue."
"No kidding? I live on that street too!"
"So it was you who just moved into my neighborhood. My mom and I are both pretty anti-social so we didn't come over."
"Yeah too many people came over for my taste," I laugh "so I was wondering, since I really don't want Mark and Jacob ganging up on me, maybe you could walk me home?" he says in a worried tone.
"Oh, um, yeah, sure. Do we need to stop by your locker?"
"No. I have everything."
"Great. So, yeah lets go." I shut my locker and we make our way through the hall. We say bye to Lexi, who gives me a look and I flip her off when Jonathan isn't looking. Then we say bye to Sebi and Jordan who are laughing their heads off for some reason I do not know. We are finally out of the school. There are a lot of kids hanging out by their cars. Then we start to make our way off campus.
"So at lunch everyone was mainly asking questions about me, and I didn't get a chance to ask them anything. What can you tell me?"
"Oh, well Lexi is on a swim team and she has a boyfriend, Ben, who goes to a different high school. She doesn't like it, but they see each other at swim and every weekend, so they get plenty of each other. Sebi and Jordan are together. Sebi is pretty much a psychologist and you can go to him for everything. And he's insane, also, if you have any form of pineapples I would keep it away from him, unless your feeling generous. Jordan, well she loves horror movies, so we always leave the Halloween party planing to her. She's also a amazing artist. And Laryssa wasn't there today I don't know why. I'm sure she'll be there tomorrow though." By the time I had finished talking, we had reached our street.
"Cool." When we reach my house I notice that my mom isn't there.
Thank god. I think. So when I get the house key from the gargoyle I unlock the house and step in.
"So here's my house." I say.
"It's nice." he responds.
"You want some food?"
"Sure, you have Nutella?"
"Of course!" he laughs. I grab the Nutella and two spoons. I make my way upstairs to my room with Jonathan following me. When we get to my room, I walk over and play Black Veil Brides on shuffle. The Mortician's Daughter plays first. I sit down on the floor and get my math homework out. Jonathan plops himself down beside me and does the same. After I help him he gets up to use the bathroom. When he comes back I was checking Instagram. Then I hear a WHOA! and I see Jonathan falling into my lap, he seems to turn over onto his back and he lands on my lap. Then he starts to get comfortable.
"Hey do you mind if I stay down here?" he says in a playful tone. To be honest I don't mind it, but I really hate awkward situations.
"Get up." I say in a playful, but irritated tone.
"But its so comfterbl-"
"I. Don't. Care." cutting him off.
"Oh fine." he sits up and flicks his hair to the side, which to me is pretty sexy. After a little bit of awkward silence with Rebel Love Song playing in the background, I get up and look for a different song to play.
I should make this one meaningful, so he can see who I am, kind of. I think to myself. So I play Extraordinary Girl by Green Day. Then I go and sit on my bed, going into deep thought about the song. From the corner of my eye I see Jonathan getting up and looking at the writings on my wall. Which are mainly covered in song lyrics that means something to me. I see him stop at the area where lyrics from this song are written. Then the song ended. There was a hanging silence in the room. Jonathan turned to me.
"'Some days she feels like dying, she gets so sick from crying.' I like it. Very meaningful. What's the name of the song?" he says.
"Extraordinary Girl by Green Day."
"Okay. I like the song. Obviously it means something to you. In particular this line. Why do you want to die? Because whatever that reason is, is the reason you cry. Sorry if I'm seeming forward, but could you please tell me why?" I was shocked, nobody had asked me these kind of questions. Because no one really cared. But I knew I could trust him, so I opened up to him,
"I feel like there's something, or someone missing. My dad left us when I was 14, but I know that isn't it, because he always treated me and my mom like shit. He was a alcoholic and a addict. I always went to Lexi's house and my mom would go take care of her mother. So he didn't mean that much to me. I mean, going away from that, I've only had one boyfriend in my life. And when I was with him I felt whole. But now I've come to realize that I'm just tired, tired of being alone. I know though, that I'm going to be like that for a long time. I'm just going to go with it all, and just wait awhile." After I finish I look up at him, those piercing blue eyes are staring right back at me. I thought
Great , he's probably seriously weirded out by me now. Then he opens his mouth and says
"Hey, listen to me. There is someone out there waiting for you. And maybe they're closer than you think. But they just don't know what to do." I felt like he was going to say something else, but his phone started ringing.
Great. It's probably his girlfriend. I thought because every time I liked a guy they either had a girlfriend or liked someone else.
"Hey mom." he said after picking up the phone. I was slightly relieved. But I still didn't know if he had a girlfriend. After he hung up he said,
"Hey sorry, my mom wants me home. But thanks for everything today. And everything is going to be okay. I promise."
"It's okay. See you tomorrow." Then he left. After I herd the door close and saw him walk off my lawn I turn away from the window, but as I'm turning I see him looking back at my window. Then he smiles and walks away.
