Dr. Melendez left Stacey's room and walked into the room that Shaun was sitting in. He opened the door and realized that Shaun wasn't in there. He started looking around for him, and eventually found him in on the same computer he was sitting in earlier that day.
"Hey, Shaun. So, I let Stacey know that you weren't the one that had the idea of telling her the news. I told her it was really me that forced you. So, she's no longer mad at you specifically." Dr. Melendez updated.
Shaun clicked the minus button on the top right of his computer screen and turned his chair around. He stared at the floor and slowly pulled out his wrapped up scalpel. He unwrapped it and held it in his hand. Dr. Melendez started to question why he always had that toy with him.
"I saw you holding that the first day we met. How come you always have it with you?" Dr. Melendez asked. Shaun stayed silent as he put his dark blue cloth in his pocket.
"You're still giving me the silent treatment, huh? It's been more than an hour." Dr. Melendez said, checking his watch.
Dr. Melendez didn't realize this, but Shaun was thinking. He thought about how to help Stacey dance again, and he thought about Dr. Melendez's words before and just now. After more than 5 minutes of thinking, Shaun spoke up.
"Stacey shouted at me. Her voice scared me." Shaun said, answering the question Dr. Melendez asked a while ago. Dr. Melendez looked towards him with a surprised face.
"Come again?" Dr. Melendez asked.
"Stacey shouted at me. Her voice scared me." Shaun repeated. Dr. Melendez said nodded in understanding.
"She threw her apple at me. She has a strong hand." Shaun added and pointed to the red spot on his own forehead.
"Oh. See, I knew she got angry at you, but I didn't know her tone was what scared you." Dr. Melendez stated. Shaun decided to also answer Dr. Melendez's other question.
"My scalpel is special." Shaun explained. Dr. Melendez nodded again in understanding.
"Is it okay if I touch it?" Dr. Melendez asked.
"No." Shaun said almost immediately after. He gripped his scalpel harder as he said his answer, in order to stop his boss from stealing it. Dr. Melendez put his hands up in defense.
"Okay, okay. I was just asking." Dr. Melendez defended.
"Also, Stacy threw an APPLE at you?! That's considered patient abuse." Dr. Melendez freaked out.
Suddenly, Dr. Kalu went barreling into the room.
"Guys! Guys! I know how to help Stacey dance again!" Dr. Kalu yelled. Shaun gasped and threw his hands up towards his ears immediately.
"Okay, go ahead." Dr. Melendez said, watching Shaun slowly drop his hands.
"What if we were to replace part of the Achilles tendon with a donated tendon?" Dr. Kalu asked.
"Why would we use a donated tendon, when we've got hundreds of tendons' in Stacey's body?" Dr. Melendez asked.
"Because a dancer needs all their muscles, tendons and ligaments, in order to dance accurately." Dr. Kalu explained.
"Dance is a song of the body. Either of joy or pain." Shaun quoted. Dr. Melendez turned his head towards Shaun.
"Hey, I know that quote. That's Martha Graham, isn't it?" Dr. Kalu asked.
Shaun shrugged his shoulders before leaving. Dr. Kalu chuckled to himself as he watched Shaun leave them.
"See you in the operating room!" Dr. Kalu yelled towards him. Shaun turned as he walked, and waved at Dr. Kalu with both of his hands before turning back around.
