At the Goatman's Bridge:
Ryan stopped his car alongside a dirt road surrounded by trees and overgrown grass. He had been on his way to the 'Goatman's Bridge,' which is supposedly a cite where a demon lives. Ryan himself had always believed in the supernatural... at least, after the 'incident' on the Queen Marry. This time however, he was here with a very skeptical friend, who he was trying to convince that ghosts and demons were real. So, he decided to take Shane to a demonic location so he could get evidence and finally PROVE that ghosts and demons were real.
Shane also stepped out of the car and walked to the other side, asking, "So where's this infamous 'Goatman's Bridge' that you speak so highly of?"
Ryan locked the car and turned back to Shane, "Well, the initial road that led to the bridge is gone now since trees and bushes grew and blocked the path. So we'll have to walk there."
Shane furrowed his brow, "Wait, we're WALKING?"
"Yep, it's not that far though," Ryan said as he began walking through the trees.
Shane followed quickly after him, after a while of walking in silence he said, "...Ya know, you should've told me we were going hiking."
Ryan slowed down a bit as he turned his head towards Shane, "But we're not going hiking. We're literally just walking for a little while and-"
The sound of a branch crunching --insinuating something stepping on it-- was eminent a few feet in front of them. Trees blocked their view as both of them stayed silent, especially Ryan, who's eyes were wide and his mouth agape.
Shane whispered to Ryan, "It's probably like an elk or even another person out here."
Ryan shook his head as if to shake away the fear, "Y-yeah. You're probably right."
Ryan stood very close to Shane as they again, stood in silence. Ryan was still scared and Shane was calm and hesitant for a second. Though, Shane admittedly felt a 'little scared.' Sure, he tried telling himself it was just an animal or another person. Yet, he had a very bad feeling about this, and his gut was usually correct.
The two stood still and waited, waiting to hear another sound, but after a while it didn't happen.
Shane calmed down and turned to Ryan, trying to hide the worry and hesitance on his face, "Maybe we should just head back. After all, it's getting dark and not to mention this bridge is literally in the middle of nowhere... God KNOWS what or who could be out there."
Ryan was still tense, and hesitantly added, "...Like, the Goatman?"
Shane stared at Ryan who was still staring in the direction of the sound and his voice sounded shaky and afraid. He just... wanted Ryan to be safe.
He tried to lighten the mood, he scoffed and said jokingly, "Ha, yeah, sure. Come on now, unless you wanna have a date with the Goatman."
Ryan nervously laughed and followed closely behind Shane. He kept glancing around through the trees and even behind himself. He was truly paranoid, probably more so than he's ever been.
Suddenly, as they were walking, Ryan saw an apparition of... something through the trees. He immediately stopped and stared at the creature which materialized before his eyes. His eyes became as wide as saucers as he quickly tugged on Shane's shirt. Shane stopped abruptly once he felt Ryan's hand on his shirt. He saw how scared Ryan looked and followed his eyes to see a devil-like creature staring back at him. It had wild black fur and horns, it appeared to be a HUGE goat standing on it's back legs, not even stumbling or becoming unbalanced. As if it was used to standing on it's hind-legs. -And it's eyes, which glowed fiercely in the sunset.
Like a magnet, the creature seemed to 'catch' their eyes. As they couldn't seem to pry their eyes away from the creature, and, like paralysis, they couldn't even move their bodies. They stood frozen, staring at the creature.
Then, the Goatman lunged forward and towards the boys. It pounced almost like a tiger onto Ryan, knocking him backwards onto the ground and prying his hand from Shane's shirt. The creature stood at around 7 or even 8 feet tall, significantly larger than Ryan and Shane.
The creature stared into Ryan's eyes and seemingly into his soul, as if hypnotizing Ryan into some sort of trance-like state. All Shane could do was watch the creature as it began to drag Ryan through the trees and into the darkness.
Shane, overcome with rage and emotion, broke from his frozen state and yelled ferociously, "HEY, YOU DEMON F*CK!!" The creature turned to him, probably caught off guard.
Shane continued with not an ounce of fear in his system, "YEAH! I'M TALKING TO YOU!! LET GO OF MY FRIEND!!"
Smoke seemed to accumulate in the Goatman's ears and nose, he huffed and the smoke seeped through the holes in its face. The creature filled with fury lunged forward again, but this time much more hastily. It attempted to pounce on Shane, but Shane miraculously dodged the attack.
The Goatman face planted into the grass with a huge 'THUD.' Though, this was not over. After all, it's a supernatural being, it's not going down so easily. Shane knew what to do. He needed to grab Ryan and RUN, to RUN as fast as his long, stilt-like legs could carry him.
Shane quickly sprinted towards Ryan, who was unconscious at this point. Then he picked him up quickly yet gently as he began to run in the direction of the car. He looked straight forward, never looking back. He could hear the furious, mad growls and horrid 'screams' of the Goatman behind him. Not to mention the absolutely insane stomping made by the Goatman's hooves.
Shane felt no fear as he approached the car, all he cared about was Ryan. To him, it didn't matter if he himself had died. As long as Ryan made it back, he could die peacefully. He didn't know what would happen after death, if he'd be a ghost, demon, or angel... or whatever. He just hoped he could see Ryan again, his best friend.
Approaching the driver's side of the car, he put Ryan down next to the car and tried opening the door, but it was Ryan who had the keys.
The Goatman had caught up to them, and he went behind Shane, grabbing him by the throat and lifting him off the ground with one arm. Shane struggled, but the cryptid creature was too strong. Shane stopped and stared again at Ryan. His hair was a bit tousled and his clothes were a little dirty, but he was sleeping like a baby. Unaware of the current situation and definitely no longer shaking in fear. He was relaxed.
The beast began to squeeze his throat slowly, Shane closed his eyes, accepting his inevitable death. He prayed to God that nothing bad would happen to Ryan and that he'd leave unscathed and... forget all about Shane.
As he was losing consciousness, he heard a loud crash and followed by a 'crack' and a 'thud!' All of a sudden he was lying on the ground, he wearily opened his eyes to see a familiar face staring back at him.
It was Ryan, he looked very worried and distressed. Both Shane's hearing and vision was crap, but he could still faintly hear and see Ryan, "Shane! Shane! C-can you hear me?! Shane!"
Shane's hand slowly moved to cup Ryan's face, he whispered, "Y-you...you need to go, leave!"
Ryan looked like he was going to cry, he held Shane's hold on his face, "No! I'm not leaving you! Stay with me! D-don't fall asleep!"
Shane's eyes were slowly closing, but before he died there was something he wanted to do, "Ryan..." he closed the space between their faces as they kissed. Ryan was in shock, but before he could kiss back Shane fell back onto the ground. He blacked out.
