Jake’s POV
I didn’t sleep well. If what Sam said was true she played for the best high school team in the countries since she was in eighth grade. She couldn’t be telling the truth. We never even consider the eighth graders. They aren’t even at High School yet. Especially a team like the Jaguars would have loads of players to consider.
‘Morning Darling’ Mom called. I grabbed a piece of toast as Sam walked in. She wore her usual but her hair was tied up rather than lose. She never wore make-up probably because she doesn’t consider herself that much of a boy.
‘How are you Samantha?’ Mom asked Sam.
‘Samantha is chained up in the basement of the house in Johnsonville’ Sam sneered.
‘That’s not nice’ I said. She jumped on me and punched me again. The one she gave me felt like a brush by a feather compared to his one. I fell on the floor and she jumped off me.
‘Samantha’ Mom called after her but she was out of the house.
‘Are you ok?’ she asked me.
‘That was a hard punch’ I gasped grabbing an ice pack from the freezer and placing it over my eye.
‘Will you be ok to play tonight?’ she asked.
‘I’ll be fine’ I said. Mom is a worrier and worries over every little detail. I walked out waving good-bye.
Sam was laughing with the rest of the team.
‘Wow, who did that to you?’ Matthew asked. I knew that my eye would bruise but not that quickly.
‘It’s bright purple and blue’ Cody laughed.
‘I can thank Sam for that’ I said glancing at her and she was trying not to laugh.
‘You can punch” Cody said.
‘I lived with five older boys for eight years; you learn how to play dirty’ she smiles.
For P.E. we were in the weights room. It is really good quality.
‘Today we are doing weights in the threes I have assigned you see how much you can bench press’ Coach Thompson ordered.
I looked at the list and saw I was Matthew and Bentley, another Footballer.
I could do the most with 140 pounds which was almost my weight. Matthew and Bentley both did an even 100 pounds. I walked over to see who could press the most. I looked down the list and saw 220 pounds. It was Sam, of course. That was more than three times her weight. I glance round and saw her and Cody by the punching bag. She had it flying in the air from punches that looked like she wasn’t even trying.
I had Chemistry last with Sam. She was sitting behind me with another boy that wasn’t from the team. They were arguing about a range of thing but I wasn’t really listening. At last the time to leave and I could help but listen to Sam’s conversation.
‘What are you the football manager?’ he laughed.
‘Ryan I am a line backer but I can play quarterback’ she laughed.
‘Cute, no really why are you going?’ he asked.
‘Cody, can you tell this idiot what I do for the football team?’ she called across the class.
‘Dude, she is the star defender’ Cody smirked. Sam walked out with him with Ryan standing still.
‘Don’t worry she does that to everyone’ I told him.
‘You know what Coach, I actually like playing line backer more quarterback’ Sam told Coach as she got on the bus.
‘Why is that?’ he asked.
