Jake’s POV
I don’t understand completely what Sam and Father were arguing about. I knew the Father did something that Sam can’t excuse him and even if he apologised many times. She wasn’t in the kitchen when I got up on Friday morning. I wasn’t surprised as she hadn’t been home for breakfast for a while.
‘Where is Sam?’ Cody asked when I got to school.
‘She wasn’t at home’ I told him. I got worried when I didn’t see her come into Health. Mrs Wilson didn’t seem worried. Michael wasn’t there either. This made me suspicious that they aren’t going to be at school.
‘Coach called a meeting’ Matthew said at lunch. We found him on the field.
‘I got an email from Johnsonville inviting us to play there tonight. Do you want to play?’ he asked.
‘Lets’ everyone called. We got dismissed to go home, grab our gear and met back here in twenty minutes. Mother was home when I got there.
‘What are you doing?’ she asked.
‘We have a game’ I said running around trying to find my helmet. I was one of the last to arrive back at school. The other guys where on the bus and I got on the bus.
‘Has anyone seen Michael and Sam?’ I asked.
‘They can’t make it’ Coach called. This could be the difference as those two were the best that our team had.
‘I have made changes. Jake is quarterback, Zach line backer and Harry is safety’ Coach called as the bus started to move.
When we got there the cheerleaders were out. I noticed they wore clothing slightly less slutty that our cheerleaders. They were performing to some song I hadn’t heard but they were amazing. Their flyer was graceful. We got directed to the changing rooms again.
We finished warm up seconds before the captains were called. One of their captains was a girl. They seem to like having female footballers. She looked familiar though.
‘Heads or tails?’ the referee asked.
‘Heads’ I called as he flipped it. It was tails.
‘You never guess right’ the girl said.
‘Who are you?’ I asked. She still had her helmet on so I couldn’t see her face well. When she pulled in off. I gasped.
‘Sam, what are you doing?’ I asked.
‘I left you and your school. Johnsonville agreed to take me on again. In fact I was the one that had the idea to even have this game’ Sam smiled as she headed off. Michael was there too.
The game was not going well. You could see that Sam was a key player for the Jaguars. We were struggling with their pace and accuracy. They were up 21-0 at half time. We hadn’t got in the game. Sam was enjoying the game. She wasn’t playing line backer which means that she isn’t attacking me.
It’s just my luck as Sam switched to line backer in the second half. On the first play she sacked me. The same happened in the second and third.
The game ended 56-0. Coach was disappointed in us. I decided to go talk to Sam and Michael.
‘Why did you leave?’ I asked.
‘I was sick of you guys. I also learnt that your Father murdered my family’ she snapped.
‘He is your Father too’ I said.
‘I don’t consider you family anymore’ Sam stalked off to talk to Cody and Luke quickly. Michael glared at me.
‘I would kill you given that we aren’t in the same team’ he said.
‘What’s stopping you?’ I asked.
‘The fact that it isn’t what Sam wants’ he smiled. I wanted a proper talk to Sam.
‘I love you’ I said.
‘I know but I don’t love you back’ Sam said simply.
‘Come with us’ I said.
‘I belong here’ she smiles gesturing towards her team.
‘I’ll walk away but you will regret it’ he promised.
‘I don’t think I will’ she smiled
