Jake’s POV
I woke up alone. I clearly remember going to bed with Sam but she was gone. I know that I was slightly drunk last night but I acted on my feelings but I remember everything. I don’t know if Sam enjoyed but I know I did. I quickly dressed and walked into Sam’s room.
I had a slight hangover. There was a headache but that was it. Occasionally I would get pounding in my head and it would be too hard to think but it would go away minutes later.
She was lying on the bed. She was on top of the covers and she was shivering. I walked over to her but she was still asleep.
‘Morning Sunshine’ I said kissing her softly on the lips. She froze for a minute before shaking even more violently. I kissed her again only to repeat the process. When I touched her forehead was burning up. I rushed upstairs and grabbed an ice pack. When I got down she was still shaking and burning up. I placed it on her forehead before grabbing my phone.
I couldn’t call Mother or Father as they were out of town and Sam would murder me if I did. Not many of my friends would know much and would be a distraction rather than help. I decided to call Michael as he could probably help. When I dialled his number he picked up on the first ring.
‘What do you want?’ he asked.
‘Sam is sick’ I said. He hung up without asking anything else. I sat down not knowing what else to do. Sam was still shivering but she would toss occasionally. I heard footsteps and Michael came running into the room. He sat down beside her.
He hugged her tightly and kissed her gently. Unlike when I tried he managed to get her to calm down. She woke up, startled when she saw that she was in Michael’s arms. Her shoulders shuddered and she started to sob. I was surprised as she didn’t cry often. He held her tight and I felt like an intruder.
‘What is the matter?’ Michael asked but Sam wouldn’t say. Michael gestured for me to leave so I walked up the stairs. He came up minutes later without Sam.
‘I left her down there to rest’ Michael said.
‘Will she be OK?’ I asked.
‘She’s been through worse. Was she like that when you came in?’ he asked.
‘I came home last night and she was in bed. When I got up this morning I went into her room and she was how she was when you came’ I lied.
Sam walked up. She looked terrible, her face was pale and she looked like she hadn’t slept most of the night.
‘Home Coming will be nightmare’ she states grabbing a banana from the bench.
‘Andrew called and he says that they are staying for the Weekend and will be at the park in ten’ Michael said.
‘Will you come?’ Sam asked. Michael smiled and they headed out together. I became nervous. What if she told him want I had done? What would he do to me? I tried to push these thoughts away by doing something but I couldn’t find anything that would keep my attention for more than five minutes.
