Jake’s POV
Sam’s comment really stung. I didn’t tell anyone about it which is probably the wrong thing to do but I didn’t want to admit it to Father. On Monday I was worrying about practise after school and the fact I have a meeting at lunch to make decisions about Home Coming. We had Health first which means that I have to sit next Sam.
The football team was outside when I got there. Sam was in the middle laughing with the guys. She was telling a story and every few seconds they would laugh.
‘And that is why you never what to mention chopped chicken to Liam” Sam summed up when I walked over.
‘What are you talking about?’ I asked.
‘Sam was telling us about Liam’s fear of chopped chicken’ Cody laughed. I rolled my eyes and decided to head to Health instead of hanging around listening to her stories. The bell rang anyway so Sam joined me in Health. Mrs Wilson was already there.
‘Today we are looking at a case that someone touched on earlier in the year’ she said as the last few people took their seats.
‘We are looking at the Jameson family. They were driving home when he pulled the car to side. He then shot his wife and three children before shooting himself. The youngest son and one of the twin girls were also found at the scene. The third girl was never found and is presumed dead. What reasons do you have for this?’ Mrs Wilson asked. Jamie was the first one to stand up to talk.
‘I think that the reason was domestic violence. She wasn’t doing what he wanted so he shot her. The children started to cry and he shot them too. He was horrified with what he had done so shot himself’ Jamie said looking proud of herself.
‘How do explain the third child never being found?’ Sam asked standing up.
‘Well can you’ Jamie challenged.
‘There was another person. He crashed into the Jamieson family and when he went to help he hated them for some reason. He shot the adults and turned to the children. He shot the missing child first but it didn’t kill, so she managed to escape when he was shooting the other children’ Sam suggested smirking.
‘You talk like you were there’ Mrs Wilson said.
‘You must be imagining it’ Sam said sitting down. It did sound like she spoke from experience but she didn’t. Her Father is still alive. When the bell rang she was the first one out. I noticed she was limping slightly. It’s probably from when she got hurt on Friday.
I knew that she wouldn’t admit she was hurt though. She didn’t like Father and she hates hospitals so she wouldn’t say she was hurt. As far as I can tell pain doesn’t stop her, she just keeps playing. I am the opposite. The second I feel pain I can’t keep playing.
I didn’t feel like going to Calculus as I know that we have a test and I don’t understand this unit which isn’t good. I know that Sam does, she has an amazing memory and but I don’t want to ask her for help.
