Serena's POV
I pick up mine and Kazimi's dinner from our favorite restaurant and I quickly drive to our house while enjoying the soft wind nipping at my skin.
My mansion comes to view, and the security guard opens the gate and lets me in. As I park I notice Kazimi car is already here.
Good, I think to myself, now I don't have to wait to eat. Finding my keys I insert it and open the door. I make my way to the kitchen and set down the food.
I call out Kazimi's name but I hear no response.
He must be in his office, "probably drowning himself with work" I murmur to myself.
I carefully take the food out and place it on a tray and make my way to our office.
I enter the room and to see Kazimi's head on his desk and his eyes closed.
I could see the small bags forming under his eyes. I hated it when he overworks himself, it is not healthy for him.
I set the food down and go to wake him up. I reach my hand out to wake him up but stop midway as my hand has a mind of its own, I instead begin tracing his features.
It made me think of what we were. Where we acquaintances? Were we friends? Or were we just mere business partners? It confused me a little bit, but whatever we were was fine with me.
I might not tell him, but he is all I have left. I remember meeting Kazimi when I was 18 years old. He was 23 at the time.
We were both closed off people. But little by little we warmed up to one another.
I never let him in completely though, I still have secrets, but I unintentionally did tell him bits and pieces of my past. In return, he never once judged me.
Unknowingly fate had us wounded up together, but it was like thin sheets separating us, blocking me from letting Kazimi know who I really am or in this case who I really was.
But we both where somewhat swimming in the same pond, and we both were definitely a mystery.
Our relationship was uncanny, we both only let each other see a certain side of ourselves and hide the other as though it was forbidden.
We knew it was for the best. That is just how Kazimi and I worked and I wouldn't want it any other way.
I knew he had a past too, but I never bothered to ask because I always knew he would tell me the entire truth and it would eat me up to know that I did not do the same. Kazimi was like a puzzle, one you couldn't solve.
I gradually learned he was no saint himself, he can be a very dangerous man. Unknowingly I let myself get close to Kazimi but I still have my guard up because let's face it getting close to people will only end up hurting you anyways.
As I take in his appearance it makes me realize how devilishly handsome he is. His eyelashes were long and curly making any girl jealous. His cheekbones were high and his nose was quite sharp. His lips were lusciously full.
He was one sight to look at, but it never really occurred to me that he never did have a girlfriend. He was too occupied with work to have one I guess.
I smile a little when I remember what brought Kazimi and me together. It was our passion for business and although our relationship was messed up it never stopped us from starting our company.
The company was everything we had, it was every sleepless night, the blood and the sweat we put into it for it to come to life. Kazimi and I are definitely messed up but the company brought us together.
Finally breaking away from my daze I realize my hand was running through his soft silky hair. I slowly retrieve it but his left hand quickly shoot-ups and makes my hand stay in place.
"Don't stop," he whispers faintly.
I quickly try to cover up my shock as I continue running my hands through his hair. We stay like that for a while till I realize the food is probably going to get cold.
I make my way around the table and set his food in front of him. He quietly starts eating. I can feel his gaze at me so I look up, only to meet his steely gray eyes.
"So have you made a decision yet" he finally said.
"Yes, we will be staying in Toronto for a while " I reply. I could see a small smirk appear across his lips.
"We will be leaving in two weeks," I say, and I slowly walk out of his office and into my room.
He thinks he convinced me, little did he know this was my choice.
