Extra -- Mama

 After the party, me and my mom headed back to the car. We were talking about going to some kind of small restaraunt to get somthing to eat because we weren't feeling the food that was supplied.

I got comfortable in the car, I was glad she drove. I put my headphones in because I knew that sooner or later she was going to come with the questions and if I put my blockers on now she might get the message.

That unfortunately didn't work. 
"Polly, who was that boy you was talking to ?"

I rolled my eyes in the window view. "Just someone I met when I went out into the town. He seems really cool, but I don't know him like that."

"Mhmm.....so what are we eating, I'm hungry ?"

We went driving down the main street and started looking.

I wanted to ask her but I didn't want to make it seem like she couldn't do what she wanted to do, but I needed to know before things get too crazy out here in the streets.

"Ma...... I want to ask you something. I don't want you to be mad when I ask. Are and some of the guys on the block having a thing going on ?"

She froze for a few seconds. Her hands were locked on the steering wheel and her eyes were fixed straight on the road. She had quit looking for places to stop and eat.

"Umm. Well. I'm not doing anything that will affect anyone else. I'm just doing what I have to do to get by."

What did she mean by get by though. 

"To get by ? What do you mean by that ?"

She just changed the conversation and pulled over to a quick joint. 

I knew she was going through something, too much has happened in the past few weeks. I know she has something built up in her, but I couldn't be the one she told, so I went looking around.
