Gabe's POV:
The next day we were still on the road as I had no idea where Javi was taking us.I also begin to notice something wasn't right with Javi. He seem to of been getting really really sick almost as if he got... no that couldn't of happened. I stopped the muerto before it bit him. "Hey uh, uncle Javi?" I asked him as he turned to me with a sickly look on his face. "Wha... What is it, bud?" He said coughing in the middle of his question. "You don't look so good. Are you OK?" I asked him as he gave me a reassuring look. "Yeah Gabe I'm fine. Just feeling a little ill is all. Now try to get some sleep. We have a long road trip ahead of us." Javi answered me as I did as he suggested and fell asleep.
"BAAAMM!!!" I heard as I woke up with alert to the car crashing into a tree. I looked over to Javi who began to crawl himself out of the car as I got out the other side. Javi crawled his way up to a rock as I walked up to where he was. "Are you...Are you OK, Gabe?" He asked as I felt the cut on my forehead bleed. "Yeah, yeah I'm all good. Just cut on the forehead is all. I'll be fine." I told him as he sighed in relief and whispered to himself, "Good". " The more Important question is are you OK?" I asked him as his small grin of relief quickly disappeared as he now looked at me with sorrowful eyes. "What? What's wrong?" I asked him as he then sighed with regret this time as I saw him begin to roll up his sleeve. Once he did, I went into shock when I saw my greatest fear, a muerto bite on his wrist.
"No. NO!! No, this can be happening! NO!!" I screamed is distress as Javi kept his sorrowful haze on me. "I'm sorry, Gabe. I promised your father that you would take care of each other after he died. But I can't do that now. I am out of time. That was why I was so sick on the bus and I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to worry about me." He explained as I began to cry. "I'm so sorry buddy. I wish things could've been different but things are the way they are. I just wish I could be there for you so you could have some family left who cares about you. But I can't." He continued as I cried even more. "But now... I don't have any family left. Once you're gone, I'll be on my own." I told him as it was now his turn to cry.
"You'll never be alone Gabe if you find people you can trust. Go find a group and make a new family for yourself. Just promise me that you'll try to find happiness and try to help anyone in need. There are people out there who are counting and counting on your help. I'm counting on you to make sure that... That you help those people, OK?" He asked as I held his cold lifeless hand in mine. "I will I...I promise." I said as he smiled again and I took my gun out of my holster. "Say hello to Mariana for me." I told him as he nodded to me. I then pointed the gun to his head as he held it in place. "Goodbye Gabriel." He faintly said as even more tears streamed down my face. "Goodbye Uncle Javi." Said as I had a quick moment of hesitation until I finally pulled the trigger; putting him out of his misery.
For a moment I just stood there in the spare as I stared at my dead uncle that was right in front of me. The only family I have left in this world who is now gone forever. As far as I knew, I was the only remaining Garcia left. It didn't take long for the muertos to catch up to the sound of the gunshot. So I packed up the supplies from the car and went on my own. And there I was by myself walking down an endless an empty road with nobody left to keep me company or to care for me. For the first time in my life, I was truly all alone.
