Chapter Thirteen

*~*~*~*

After ditching Steve and Tony I started back towards my room. As soon as I stepped foot in the room I froze and just stared at the bed. The last time I was in here Phil had been here with me, trying to comfort me and make me feel better. He'd promised me that he would make sure that he'd get me out of here once this was all over and that he wouldn't let Eyepatch get in his way. He had actually made me feel happy, like I wasn't some horrible freak. He showed me that people do care.

I kept the tears that were starting to sting my eyes from falling as I made my way over to the closet and looked for something else to wear. I quickly settled on a pair of jeans and a black long sleeved shirt and quickly switched my clothes. I wasn't even going to bother with showering right now, I was more than likely to end up getting messy again soon anyways. What was the point? Just as I was kneeling down to pull on some black boots my door burst open and I snapped my head up to see Steve and Tony in the doorway.

"There's this great thing called knocking." I snapped at them as I started to tie the laces on the boots.

"We know where- What happened to your ceiling?" Tony got distracted. I looked back at them to see Tony staring up at the ceiling over my bed in confusion. The black burn spot was still there, I guess Phil wasn't able to get those people in here to paint over it before everything happened.

"Boredom." I rolled my eyes. "Now why did you just barge in here?"

"We know where Loki is headed." Steve explained this time since Tony was still looking at my ceiling in confusion. "He needs somewhere to power the portal and the only place that is powerful enough is-"

"Stark Tower." I remembered Bruce and Tony talking to Steve about it before.

"Bingo." Tony returned to the conversation. "Now let's get moving. We already talked to Romanoff and Barton, they're waiting for you two with a jet."

"What about you?" I raised a brow at him.

"I have a different source of transportation." With that he hurried out of the room so it was just Steve and I.

"You ready?" He asked.

"Just keep up." I took off through the door and started running through the halls, towards where I knew the jets were stored while not it use. Steve on my tail.

Sure enough when we got there I easily spotted Natasha boarding one of the jets with a man. He seemed fit with short brown hair, he wore a black suit similar to Natasha's. In his hands he had a black bow and a quiver of arrows on his back. At the sound of our approaching footsteps they both turned around to look at us. Natasha just shared a look with Steve, who nodded, and we all boarded the jet. The man, I'm guessing Barton, took one of the pilot seats with Natasha in the other while Steve and I sat in the back. Before I knew it we were flying off towards New York City.

"Here." Natasha tossed me something that I easily caught. I looked down in my hand to see a small black ear plug type thing. I guess this is how we were supposed to keep in touch. I honestly didn't want to put it in, but with the look Steve gave me I did anyways.

"What's the plan for once we get there?" I asked the others.

"We figure out how to close the portal as soon as possible." Steve told me. He can't really think it's going to be that easy, can he?

"I don't think we ever got the pleasure," I got up from my seat and walked to the front of the jet where Natasha and Barton were, my attention focused on the latter. "My name's Nichole Falconeri."

"I know." From the way he said it I don't think people had told him good things about me. Well, I guess the others don't have many 'good things' to tell him about me.

"I take it you're Clint Barton." It wasn't a question.

"Why exactly is she here?" The question was directed at Natasha, but before she could answer I spoke up again.

"Because, just like you, I want Loki's head on a stick." I felt my blood boil some as I thought about Phil. There was no way in hell that I was going to let Loki get away with killing him.

"You'll have to get in line." Clint looked away from the sky and controls for a moment to give me a sharp glare.

"You don't scare me Robin Hood." I returned his glare with one of my own.

"Stark, we're almost there." Natasha said into her earpiece. I looked out the front of the jet and sure enough I saw that we were in New York City, all the tall buildings surrounding us as we flew by.

"What took you so long? Did you swing by the drive thru?" Tony's sarcastic voice filled my ear. Oh, this was going to be pleasant. I looked at the others before my gaze landed on the back of the jet. More importantly on the button that would open the back. Of course, Steve had to notice this.

"Agent Falconeri!" Steve got to his feet as I darted towards the back and pressed the button. I watched as it opened and I saw the chaotic city below, large aliens running around with their guns. Civilians running for cover while screaming in a panic. I looked back at Steve to see that he was clearly irritated that I was even thinking about doing this. Hasn't he learned that that only makes me want to do it more?

"I keep telling you, I'm not a damn agent." I gave him a little wave before jumping out of the back of the plane.

It felt almost relaxing to plummet through the air and towards the earth. With a small flick of my wrist I created a breeze that was strong enough to guide me in the same direction the jet was going. At the back of it I could see Steve watching, probably with wide eyes. I couldn't help but grin as I aimed myself towards the ground where I saw a group of the alien creatures.

Upon landing I stumbled a little but quickly recovered. I saw civilians looking at me with wide eyes but they didn't stop running for cover. I glanced up at the sky and saw the jet starting to land a ways off, disappearing behind a large building. Turning my attention back to the aliens near me I saw that some of them were coming at me now. Smirking I ran and jumped over one of them, grabbing its shoulder in the process. All it took was the touch and it busted into flames before my eyes. Looking at the others around me I sent them flying with the strong breezes that came from nowhere.

This was too easy.

Once the ones around me were taken care of I started running in the direction that I'd seen he jet land before. As I ran I lit the aliens I passed on fire without a second glance. After nearly ten minutes of running I spotted a familiar red haired woman, a man with a bow, and blue suited man carrying a shield. With them though was a familiar log haired blonde Asgardian with a hammer in hand. One of the aliens was running up at Steve while he was fighting another so he didn't see it coming. I went running at it head on jumped onto its shoulders. With one swift movement I snapped its neck and lit the corpse on fire.

"That's one for me!" I yelled at Steve as we all fought. He didn't even bother responding to my comment as we kept fighting. Tony kept making comments through the earpiece, but the only one I paid any attention to was him saying Thor was here and to keep an eye out for Bruce.

"We need to get the damn portal shut." I stated the obvious to them. Before one of them could say anything though we heard the sound of a motorcycle approaching. I turned to look at the same time the others did and couldn't help but grin at who I saw getting off the bike.

"Stark, we have Banner." Steve said into his earpiece.
