She never thought she would experience such kindness from a stranger whom she had only met once. Kasamatsu Yukio was a kind person to her. He was so kind to her that he offered to walk her back to the train station.
Kanata bowed in respect. "Thank you for today."
"It's fine. Just don't go and die. I saved you, don't let my efforts go to waste."
"Will you really answer my calls?"
"I will."
It was time for her to leave. The train had just arrived and the doors opened.
"Senpai, Summer holiday is coming up... Can I come to Kanagawa and see you?"
"Want to see me already?"
"Huh? It's... It's not like I want to see you or anything. It's just I find Tokyo boring..." She blushed. Kanata looked down at the floor. What was this feeling?
"Sure. I'll see you soon." He said with a smile.
"..." Kanata quickly got onto the train. She can feel herself blushing already. She jumped onto the train so he could not see her face.
Kasamatsu watched the train go and he hoped to see her again soon.
Kasamatsu couldn't help but proud of himself in a way; he may have missed school but he managed to save someone who made an impact in his life. To him, Kanata was someone who reached out to him. She may not know it but their first meeting made her important to him. He respected her for her skills, her love for the sport, and her view of life.
"I wonder if I can bring back the real you..." He turned to leave, making his way back.
"Kasamatsu-senpai? Is that you?"
Kise's voice can be heard and he ran to his senpai. "Senpai! You weren't in school today! We were worried about you! You didn't answer your phone either! We got worried!"
"Sorry... An emergency came up."
"Glad to know you were well... Um, why were you with Harukacchi?"
"Harukacchi? Wait, you know Kanata?"
"Eh?! Senpai, you are on such good terms with her that you are calling her by her first name?!" Kise never thought he would see the day where his senpai can even speak to a girl. Kasamatsu was amazing...
"Well, Harukacchi is a part-time model. We see each other a little often." Kise explained as he and Kasamatsu made their way home.
"I see... How is she at work?"
"Harukacchi is a natural."
"Did you know she was good at basketball?"
"Ah. That..."
"Kise?"
"Harukacchi's story is sad..." Kise smiled sadly.
"What do you know?"
"What will senpai do if you knew?"
"Huh?"
"There's no point telling you anything if you're going to do nothing. I care about Harukacchi enough that I won't just let anyone know of her secret."
"..." Kasamatsu knew what Kise meant straight away. He shut his eyes and breathed out. "Kanata and I met a few days after last year's Interhigh. She was the one who told me to stand up and move forward." His fists clenched. "I can't let someone who saved me fall to despair. She saved me from my own darkness... It's my turn to save her from hers."
