Kanata's train soon arrived at Kanagawa. She wondered if Kasamatsu would really wait for her. Will he abandon her like everyone else? She doesn't know why but she's willing to continue to live life as long as Kasamatsu was there. They may have met again not so long ago but she somehow can find herself trusting him without any problems.
Walking out of the train station, she had hoped that he would be here and he's the first person she sees the moment she's out of the train station. She couldn't find him anywhere.
"..." Who was she kidding? Kasamatsu must have better things to do than to answer her calls. She can feel her last ray of hope dimming to nothing. He's not here-
"Here,"
Kasamatsu pressed a can of juice to her face, making her jump. She looked at him with a surprised look, as if asking why he was here. "What's with the stupid look? You told me to come and I came."
"..." Kanata can feel tears brimming. It took him by surprise because he didn't want to make anyone cry! That's not his intention!
"Huh? W-why are you crying again?"
"I thought you would never show up..."
"Don't be silly. Of course I'm here..." He gave her the can of juice. "You want to tell me what's going on?"
"I can't go back anymore..."
"In other words, you've ran away from home? Are you regretting it?"
"... Not really." In all honesty, she had always felt uncomfortable at her own home. The warmth of a happy family was replaced by loneliness and she hated it. She felt so far away from her own father even though they live under the same roof. Her father became cold ever since the death of her mother. She wondered if things would be different if her mother was still alive but time will never stop or go back for anyone. Kanata can only hope things will be better on its own.
"You've done a good job, Kanata." He reached made her hold onto the cold can of juice. "You've remembered to call me."
He was good at chasing away all of her negative thoughts. Why? Why was he willing to be there for her?
"Kasamatsu-senpai?"
"What?"
"Is it okay... Is it okay for you to lend me your shoulder?"
"Go ahead." When he said that, Kasamatsu opened his arms and pulled her close to him. "I never thought I would see you so soon..."
"Me too... Ugh..." One hand holding the can of juice, the other held the back of Kasamatsu's shirt. "It hurts..."
He allowed her to cry. Neither of them cared about the disapproving looks from people walking past.
"I've just realized you're a crybaby..." Somehow she sort of reminded him of his team's crybaby, Kise.
"I'm sorry... Just a little while longer..."
"It's okay. I'm just glad to know you are safe before anything happens to you."
"Life is hard, senpai..."
"Ah. But it's these obstacles in life that shapes a person's personality. It doesn't matter what happens in the past as long as you overcome them somehow."
"I don't know if I can ever overcome it..."
"I think you are fine. Other than attempting to suicide, I think you are fine."
