○BECCA○
Fear filled every part of my body as he had my neck in his hands and pushed me ahead of him leading me from the kitchen.
"HAMISH." He demanded as the man from the road got up from his spot at the table, following after us. I could hear the distant sounds of Alex's sobs as I was led out of the house to a barn. He threw me at Hamish, him catching me by the shoulders as I was thrown into him, my jaw tightened and I prevented tears of fear from pouring out of my eyes, my sudden flash of anger slowly seeping away.
"Shhh, it's alright, he's just going to show you something. Pa won't hurt you, He's not like that." Hamish hummed into my ear. The man ...Pa unlocked the door and proceeded inside, Hamish pushing me after him. Pa went behind us and re- locked the door. Where he then led us into a room of cages. A woman pounded on the steel bars.
"LET ME OUT PLEASE!" She yelled as Pa just looked at her, she looked young, probably similar age to the dead man in the kitchen, she had dark brown hair with light blue eyes, washed out by pain and fear. Two men sat in another, they didn't bother to fight, or ask for help, they looked as though they had already given up.
"Christine, this is someone who threatened to expose us, she came with those two cops and said we killed her brother, now we kill her, and them. Do you know why?" He asked looking at me, his anger seeming faint, almost as if he hadn't dragged me to the barn by my neck at all.
"Because... I...I don't know." I Whimpered, she looked at me with fear, the men looking at me with disgust like I was living the lifestyle of Pa and Hamish by choice, like I was one of them, as though I would kill all of them.
"Hamish, why do we kill them?" Pa asked.
"Because they will break us apart." Hamish said simply. Pa looked at me.
"Do you understand, now?" He questioned, I could only nod in response.
"Good, because you are going to clean this up." Pa said and before we could react to anything, he grabbed the woman by her shirt and slit her throat with a knife, her blood splattering everywhere.
"W...Why did you do that?!" I yelled terror filling me."Because, she isn't like those men over there." Pa said turning to the men.
"She wouldn't have been like the others, the others are fun to kill... she would've cried and whined, those kills aren't fun. Now Hamish take out her body, and Christine clean the blood. And...When your done Hamish tell your brother were going to have some fun tonight." And with that he left the barn.
" Sweet." Hamish smiles and opened the woman's cage, he grabbed her feet and dragged her from the barn following after Pa, I could only stare in horror as a trail of her blood flooded behind her dead corpse. Hamish slammed the door shut causing me to jump, I turned to were the lake of blood was and I couldn't hold it in anymore, I raced to the closest bucket and threw up the minimal contents left in my stomach, my throat and my nose burned. I pushed up from the bucket and used an old rag to wipe my mouth. Looking to the men they gave me empty looks, like the one that was drawn on the dead body of the man.
" they tried to make me eat someone." I whispered, normally no one that far would have heard me, but in the burning silence of the barn they heard my whisper and gave me a look of pity, I've always hated that look, now it just made it worse.
It had taken me three hours to clean up all the blood. My hands were raw, my knees numb from kneeling for so long, everything I wore was crisp with dried blood. Hamish and Benji had came into the barn around an hour ago, they took the men with them who gave me a look of pain one last time before they were taken away, twenty minutes later I heard two ear pricing screams, not something you'd expect from two grown men, but I knew they had mean their screams. I sighed My eyes were heavy with the knowledge of sleep, but whenever I closed them I was brought back to three hours ago, watching Hamish drag the woman's limp corpse out of the barn and the blood that followed.
Pa limbered into the barn, he wore an apron stained with blood that made my insides twitch. Looking at the floor a grin splattered across his face.
"You clean it so much better than the boys, and that's why, I love you more than them." He whispered the last part.
"Now its getting late, you should get cleaned up and head to bed." He smiled, I sauntered up and followed him out of the barn. We got into the house,I hadn't noticed it before but if I hadn't gone actually inside the house would have looked abandoned. He led me up the stairs and pointed to the old wooden door."this is you and annabella's room in case you forgot." he said, and gave me a good night hug.
I shivered letting go of the hug and went into the room; my eyes went to Alex brushing her hair on one of the two beds in the room.
"Alex, thank god!" I exclaimed relief filling me as I shut the door behind me.
"Becca, what happened?" She asked me to look to the blood that covered me.
"H...He slit this woman's throat...he made me clean up the blood" I admitted. She looked at me embarrassment, guilt and vulnerability radiating off her, like steam off the top of a mug of coffee.
"I...I ate fingers...Becca I ate fingers..." She wailed, tears spewing from her eyes. I looked at her with a mix of pain and disgust. Alex and I had grown up together, we were friends since I could remember, and not once has she ever looked like this, she was hollow, like giving into their demands ripped out her soul, everything about her, as I watched her tears fall I didn't know who was behind them, they had the look of my best friend, her long auburn hair, her green eyes, she was an exact replica, but they were a completely different person. I had no idea that after the matter of one single meal they could destroy one of the strongest people I knew completely, ripping her apart and sewing her back together again. Tears continued to fall from her eyes, I thought I would vomit if she ate fingers then she must''ve finished the thigh as well, when I resisted the urge creeping up my throat, I crept to her and hugged her, she sobbed harder and I couldn't help but sob too.
After we managed to compose ourselves I decided to shower, I couldn't help but remember the woman and the two men every time I looked at my clothing. Reaching into a dresser I found an old and dirty nightgown with a dull brown colour. Grabbing it I head into to bathroom.I stood in the shower looking at the drain, watching the blood group together as though it was always meant to be side by side, and I looked as the blood slipped down the drain disappearing from my view as though it was washed away from my life, but I would never forget that woman, I would never forget the fear in her eyes as Pa slit her throat, and the echoes of the man's screams would forever chime in my head.
