I didn't know how to react. Emily, Grace, and Tracy were found in Tracy's overturned car, Alex and Becca were nowhere near the scene. No one knew were they were, and their blood was all over the car, the police said that they were ending the search from two living girls to two dead bodies. My little annoying sister was gone, and I had no Idea what to do. My parents had gone to their room, probably to drink and cry without the guilt of doing it in front of me, I decided I couldn't stay in the lonely, deepest darkest depths of home anymore.
I drove to a diner a little way from town, ordering a coffee. I raced my mind through all the possibilities, maybe she wasn't really dead, maybe her and Alex got out and tried to find help, maybe they weren't gone, there was, I had to believe in a chance that she managed to get out. Derek my best friend slid in the booth across from me."I walked in and I couldn't help but see the guy staring at the booth like it was going to attack him or something. Seriously dude, you're scaring the waitresses man, their usually all over you now their, too scared to even come to your table." He announced pointing to the waitresses arguing to who was going to come to my table, I just looked at my coffee cup, the once warm liquid newly cold.
"I get it your upset about Becca, I can't even think right after they told me Alex could be dead. Luckily, I got a theory." Derek said, he was Alex's older brother, that's how we were as good friends as we were. Our parents have been friends for almost their entire lives, so when they managed to have kids that were the same ages we automatically became best friends as well.
"What is it?" I questioned looking up from the mug to see him, he looked as bad as I felt, his auburn hair was all over the place, dark circles hung below his green eyes, and to top it all of he wore the same outfit he was wearing a week ago.
"What if they escaped? Like they got out I mean it makes sense, the car was submerged in 5 inches of snow when they found them, maybe their blood and prints were covered." He stated.
"I thought the same thing." I admitted.
"Then, I say we go head out and try to find them." Derek announced with hope, an all to common feeling these days. Pulling out a map from his back pocket. He placed it on the table showing all the red and blue markings on it, coffee stains littered the paper like dandelions in an uncut field.
"Alright, the car was here when they found it which means, we have around ten options to were they could be." Derek recited. He pointed to a plot on the map.
"This is the closest structure, its an abandoned house, about ten-minute hike into the woods, I'd say we can then go to the next one about a half an hour past that. We can skip the next few days of school and go." He proposed.
"I'm in," I stated, pulling out a five-dollar bill and putting it under the mug of my cold coffee.
"Let's get going" I stated as he gave me a weak smile, we left the diner on our way to save our sisters
