○BRAD○
We sat there in silence, the sounds of our synchronized breathing was the only sound in the house. If a pin where to drop it would resemble the sound of a gunshot in the painful silence. The door opened and immediately we jolted to our feet, Officer Peter's helped Becca as she sauntered into the house, my parents flew up as we all ran to her, my parents started to cry and I couldn't help but join them, she looked worse than before, the coat I assume was the one I had given Michael hung from her shoulders like a giant out of place. I engulfed her in a hug, my parents doing so as well, she exhaled a soft whimper, like it hurt a lot but not enough for her to ask for us to let go, and I knew then that this was going to be a long recovery for her.
"oh my gosh what did they do to you?" My mother cried looking to her, a few loose tears fell from becca's eyes. I could feel the rage boiling inside me. I hated them and I hated what they did to her. I could see the rage boiling behind my dad's eyes as well, he looked cold, nothing like the fun loving dad I remembered ever since I was a kid. The old people we were seemed like distant memories far away, my mom looked like a hollow shell, my dad was a cold hologram, becca was a traumatized victim and I I was a rage blind big brother, with guilt that could tear down a village.
The paramedics took becca and my mom into the ambulance to the hospital, and I made my way after them, when I seen a familiar face.
" hey brad." Michael said simply, he was leaning on one of the police cars a blanket over his shoulders.
" hey Michael, thanks for helping, it really means a lot." I headed over to him my dad following me.
" it was no problem, I owed my life to her." he said when my dad looked to me asking for an explanation.
" dad this is Michael, he helped me find becca." I explained to him, my dad nodded and reached his hand out to him.
" Fred Cooper, it's nice to meet you, thank you." my dad said as Michael shook his hand.
" Michael woods, and it's no problem sir." Michael said as they let go of the handshake.
" As in Tim woods' son?" my dad questioned.Michael nodded.
" yeah I'm waiting for him now actually." Michael said wrapping the blanket more around himself as he shivered.
" well, Brad and I will wait with you if that's alright." my dad smiled and Michael returned the smile. We sat there a little while, starring little conversations to pass the time. The sound of a rumbling engine turned our gases to Tim's camaro pulling down the driveway, it was new and shiny and I guess it made sense, Tim's company was the main source of money in Telrenkor Falls our neighbouring town, but around here everybody knew everyone. Tim came out of his car and ran to Michael embracing him in a hug.
"Thank god you okay" he said relief clearly laced in his voice, as he hugged Michael tighter. I could see he was trying to fight tears in his eyes.
"I swear to god, I'm so happy your here, I thought I lost you." Tim cried, he pulled Michael from the hug and looked him in the eyes.
"are you okay?" he questioned worry in his voice.
" I'm fine dad, brad, Fred if you want you can go now I know you probably want to see becca." Michael turned to me and my dad.
" okay, after everyone heals up you are coming to our house after dinner, it's the least we can do, and Michael if you need anything, anything just ask us."My dad said before giving Michael his business card with our home phone number circled in red pen. Michael gave me a smile and Tim gave me a nods before my dad and I left to the hospital.
