Chapter 14

Headmistress Majime's POV

"Explain yourself properly." I said firmly to Professor Lucian as we stepped out of the classroom. "What do you mean the Emperor is dead?"

Earlier, he had interrupted my class to announce the Emperor's death, forcing us to leave in a hurry.

"I don't know exactly what happened." he replied. "We hid the fact that the Emperor's condition had already weakened and now he died all of a sudden. How can we even explain this to everyone? But the Vice Headmaster said that the cause of death was poison."

I gritted my teeth.

"Who told you this?"

"I went to the Vice Headmaster earlier for some matters. While I was there, the Crown Prince summoned him, saying the Emperor was near death. The Vice Headmaster has returned now, he said there was already nothing he could do."

"In that case, inform all professors that today's classes will be their last. They are to end their lessons immediately. We need to go to the Palace as soon as possible."

I feel sorry for the Crown Prince. He was alone in the world now.

Cossete Yaslee's POV

"Tapos." sabi ko nang matapos na namin ang pagtitimpla. We carefully placed it into a single container and set it down.

I silently prayed whoever drank our potion would recover, and grow stronger, even strong enough that death itself could be reversed. Tagos sa puso yung dasal ko kaya dapat pasado ito.

Iginala ko ang paningin ko. Many of our classmates had already finished. Only two were left. Si Lianna at Icia. Nag-aaway pa din hanggang ngayon.

I sighed.

Eh kung pumikit na lang sila para hindi sila mainis sa mukha ng isa't-isa edi natapos na sana.

Pagkabalik ni Headmistress ay kaagad niyang tinawag ang unang grupo upang magpasa, na para bang nagmamadali. The first names she called were Xia and James.

Halata mo sa dalawa ang kaba paglapit nila, habang chinicheck ni HM ang potion na gawa nila.

"Jaime Anaxagoras. Elexiar Hawthorne." she said after a pause. "Failed."

They slumped to the floor.

"You would have passed" she continued, "but your potion irritates the throat."

"But you haven't even tasted it!" James protested.

"Tama tama!!" sang ayon din ni Xia.

Ano kayang parusa ang ipapagawa ni HM kapag na fail?

"The ability I possess does not make mistakes." she said, staring sharply at them. Then a faint, teasing smile appeared. "Kung may reklamo pa kayo bakit hindi niyo tikman?"

The two exchanged glances and reluctantly gave up.

"Next!" sumunod ay si Dannica at Red. Tila walang kabang nararamdaman ang mga ito ng magpasa. Si Dannica ay tila naiinip pa. "Dannica Silvermoon. Red Phyrros. Passed!"

As expected.

"Kezilianna Seaton. Quincy Maximillian." the Headmistress said, pressing a hand to her temple. Mukhang alam na ni Icia at Lianna ang susunod na sasanihin ni HM kaya't hinanda na ng mga ito ang tenga nila at tinakpan. "Are you trying to kill whoever drinks this? Anyone who consumes it would suffer a ruptured stomach. Failed."

Pagtalikod ng dalawa ay inawat na namin sila kaagad dahil pareho na nilang inaabot ang buhok ng isa't isa.

Next were Zoe and Dannica's younger brother-Dylan Silvermoon. At manghang-mangha si HM nang i-check ang potion na ginawa ng dalawa.

"Who suggested adding a mana booster?"

"Silvermoon did, Headmistress!" maingay na aagot ni Zoe. Ang ganda talaga niya! Tan na tan, tapos blonde pa ang buhok

"She made it. I only assisted." tila nababagot na sagot naman ng kapatid ni Dannica.

"As expected from someone admitted through recommendation. Passed."

Clearly, this school did not discriminate against students from modest backgrounds.

"Next!" sunod kaming tinawag. I swallowed and glanced at Maximillian pero hindi man lang siya kinakabahan.

Nang magsawa ito ay kaagad na din niyang chineck ang potion. Nanlaki naman ang mata nito at natulala muli ng ilang segundo.

She examined our potion. Her eyes widened, and she froze for a few seconds.

"C-class dismissed." she said abruptly. "Please be advised that all classes are canceled today as we attend to pressing matters. Take your time to rest."

"Headmistress," Maximillian asked, "Did we pass?"

"Y-yes."

Pagkatapos ay nagmamadali ng lumabas si HM.

Makakapagpahinga din!

Paglabas namin nila Dannica at nagpaalam akong maglilibot sa gubat kasama si Helios. Hindi pa kasi sila nakakalabas simula nung nakipaglaban kami sa mga goblin.

"Okay! Since cancelled yung klase uuwi muna ako saglit sa amin! Hihi! Magpapaalam akong gamitin yung portal." si Icia

"Me too. It's been a while since I went home." sabi din ni Dannica.

"Edi ako muna ang kasama ni Kylee." suhestiyon naman ni Xia at nag agree silang tatlo sa isa't isa.

"Sasama ka? Sigurado ka??" tanong ko kay Xia.

"Yes. Bakit???"

"Nothing." iling ko at tsaka na siya inaya sa dorm. Yung dalawa naman ay dumiretso na sa office para magpaalam.

Headmistress Majime's POV

This potion is dangerous.
If my ability is correct, it will cause chaos, and the lives of its creators will be at risk. I must ascertain its full capabilities.

"Professor Luther! Professor Lucian!" halos maputulan ako ng ugat sa pagsigaw ko pagkadating ko sa office ng vice principal.

"Why the urgency, Headmistress?" Lucian asked.

"We need to test this potion."

"Why? What did you notice?" tanong ng Vice Headmaster.

"If my ability is correct." I replied, "this is not just a full restoration potion. It can also revive the dead."

Nagpalitan ng tingin ang dalawa at tsaka...

"Pfft! Hahahahahahahahahahaha! For a second I thought you were serious." Professor Lucian laughed. " So you were joking."

"I didn't know you had a sense of humor, Headmistress Majime." the Vice Headmaster said, smiling.

"My ability has never been wrong." seryosong sambit ko at sumeryoso sila ng itsura. "Alam kong pare-pareho tayo ng naiisip."

"There is no harm in attempting it, particularly now that the Emperor is no longer alive."

"Then there remains some hope."
