Sometimes, Eric really hated working for SQUIP industries. Like really hated it. On any normal day he worked in an office, programming the future or whatever — 'world domination through tictacs', whispers throughout the facility nicknamed it. Everyday he'd work relentlessly, improving models and figures and sizes but sometimes, he'd have to take the day off — and he was forced to do so. He hated days off.

On his days off, Eric usually moped around the electronics department in Walmart or something similar, looking at the latest model iPhone and laughing at its imperfections.

He had a standard life. Wake up, go to work, come home, sleep, repeat. Nothing too out of the ordinary. And by himself, he planned to keep it that way.

In his early years before he got his job at SQUIP industries, he'd never found love, or even had a girlfriend in fact, so when he took the high paying job, he didn't mind the long hours or how little time he spent at home. It's not like anyone wanted to be with a freak who had blue circuits on his skin.

"SQUIP 105 you are to train the new recruit today." The Developer, better known as Eric's boss, spoke through the phone, his Japanese accent causing Eric to cringe. "And then you are to take the rest of the day off."

For some unknown reason, Eric always got stuck with training. Initially he thought The Developer hated him, but he was proven wrong with days off- unless that was some cruel way to punish Eric. "Yes sir." Oh it was definitely a punishment.

"The recruit should join you shortly."

Before Eric could reply the inevitable "yes sir", the familiar beeps echoed as his boss hung up. He sighed running a hand through his curly brown hair. This was gonna be an extremely bad day.

About a few minutes later a knock was heard at his office door. He groaned getting out of his spinny chair in which he occupied himself by spinning around in until he felt sick. Not the most logical thing to do but it stopped the creeping boredom. This better be the new recruit... he thought to himself before swinging the door open.

His breath caught in his throat. In the doorway stood a man in a leather jacket and jeans. He had short hair that was dead straight with a fringe falling over the left side of his face, the tips dyed a vivid green that matched his visible emerald eye and a green circuit-like pattern running in random places on his pale skin — one poking from the collar of his shirt, one running beneath his eye and midway down his right cheek, and one that seemed to spill from the corner of his lips. He had few piercings that Eric could see, a short black stud in the ear that wasn't covered by hair and snakebites under his full lips. In short he was gorgeous and fabulously emo looking — well to Eric anyway. This was SQUIP 529, the newest recruit.

Eric hadn't realised he'd been staring until the SQUIP cleared his throat. "SQUIP 592- or is it 529- uh reporting for duty sir!" He shook his head starting over. "You're SQUIP 105 correct?"

Eric's blue eyes blinked rapidly. Right yes that was him. He nodded stepping aside to allow the new SQUIP inside. "You can call me Eric if you wish."

The younger SQUIP nodded, taking a seat at Eric's desk. "I'm Kermit- well that's my nickname but my name's K."

Eric furrowed a brow. K huh? He sat on his spinny chair once again with a smile. "Well, K, do you mind if I ask you a few questions before we begin your training?" In return he received another nod. "Ok first of all, what's your age?"

"22."

Ok he did not look 22. To Eric he looked perhaps a few days over 18 not years. He couldn't believe this 'K' was older than himself- only by a year though.

"Ok. When did you first receive your markings?"

"My mark- oh you mean these?" K motioned to the circuitry pattern on his face. "I got 'em about a couple years ago."

"And how?"

"Electrocuted."

Eric nodded. Not every SQUIP was born with marks, in fact, they were all pretty much dead or at least got very close to death to earn them. Some were earned on accident some as a punishment. Eric's own electric blue marks were from an embarrassing toaster malfunction that he hates bringing up.

"Unfortunate," he sighed, finished with questions for now.

A silence blanketed over the two SQUIP's each itching to say something and yet waiting for the other to start. Eric was intrigued by the slightly shorter male in front of him. He dressed badass, for lack of a better word, but acted nervous and shy, sometimes the complete opposite of his look. It was kind of... attractive if he thought about it.

"May I ask you questions?" K asked, a smirk settling on his face. Eric nodded in approval before settling back. No one asked him questions before. "So Eric," he began. "How old are you?"

"21- no stop laughing that's not funny I swear I didn't mean to say it like that!"

K let one last chuckle bubble from his lips before clearing his throat. The whole 21 thing wasn't even that funny, but Eric still seemed to make him laugh. "What time do we finish?"

"In a few minutes actually."

"Thank god!" Eric raised a brow at this. K clearly didn't like work then. "Oh and do you have a phone?"

"Of course."

"Can I have your number?"

Eric's cheeks flushed. Don't be irrational, Eric seethed in his mind. Colleagues usually exchange numbers to discuss work stuff. "Of course," Eric grinned, deciding to test K's motive. "But that'll cost you a kiss."

K felt his cheeks heat. Of course, he wanted to say, in mock of Eric's words but like, he just got an invitation to kiss the extremely beautiful male he just met.

Slowly leaning over the desk, K stared into Eric's electric blue eyes. "Deal." He said, winking and closing the gap between them.

In that moment, Eric decided that he could get along with K and that they weren't just colleagues... he hoped they'd be much more that that actually. Too soon, K's lips left his own and they traded numbers.

"See ya tomorrow, 105." K winked as he stood, heading out."

"Goodbye, K."

For once, Eric was happy he had the rest of the day off. It meant he could talk to K more on the phone. And that was much better than his job.
