Nervously, you take his arm and he leads you to the coffee shop.
It's as if you're in a dream. You know that being alone with a guy you met in an alley is not ideal, but he did stop that guy at the convenience store. You just hope that there's more to Kino than your initial impression of him.
"You wait here, I'll get your latte." Kino says, as he pulls out a chair for you at a small table by the front window of the café.
"Have you eaten?" He asks, with a look that could easily be mistaken for concern.
Your tummy growls in response, reminding you of the reason you left the house in the first place.
He laughs, scrunching his eyes up and opening his mouth wide to show pearly white teeth.
As the ridiculousness of the situation hits you, you can't help but laugh too.
He tilts his head at you, still smiling. "You know, I think that's the first time I've heard you laugh, it's nice."
You hold his gaze for a moment before looking down, smiling slightly.
"I'll think of something nice to fill you up and then I'll also get you something to eat." He says, winking.
You look at him, shocked. How can he go from being so sweet to so rude so quickly?!
He laughs again, turning to the counter to start ordering.
You feel your face burn as crimson streaks across your cheeks and ears.
Rummaging in your bag, you find your phone and send a quick text to Lucy, praying she has her phone on her while she's litter picking.
