"Double Date?!" Lucy manages to squeak out, as Kino's friend sits down next to her with an apologetic look on his face.

"Yeah! This will be fun!" Kino replies with his wide smile still on his face.

You worry for his cheek muscles, he might strain them if he keeps this up.

Taking a deep breath, you prepare yourself for Kino's next expression.

"Kino, as lovely as it is to see you, I came here with Lucy to relax while we take a break from studying-" You trail off as you see Kino's expression change.

Here it comes.

The smile changes slowly into a pout. The sparkling eyes dull and look downwards.

"Oh Kino, no I didn't mean that-, I mean you guys can stay with us for a little while I guess." You backtrack. Caught again by the perfect puppy dog look.

The light returns to his eyes and he smiles just as wide as before.

With a wink he starts, "Knew you'd come around to it! So, who's your friend?" He asks, nodding at Lucy.

"Oh, um, I'm Lucy." She says, eyeing Kino warily.

You knew his energy was a bit much for her, not to mention being dragged into such an uncomfortable situation like a double date at a moment's notice.

You looked over at Kino's companion, who had gone similarly quiet.

"Hey, you should introduce your friend before interrogating mine." You reply, nodding towards his friend in turn.

"Oh yeah, go on, you can speak for yourself." Kino says, nudging his friend.

"Sure can, thanks for the reminder." The older boy says somewhat sarcastically. "My name's Shinwon, nice to meet you two." He continues, looking at the both of you, but lingering longer and smiling at Lucy.

Lucy smiles and looks down. You hadn't seen her act coy in a while. It was nice.

Smiling, you ask the boys what they had ordered, as the drinks arrive at your table.

"Oh well the ever-mature Kino here was going to get the strawberry delight topped with strawberry icecream and strawberry flavoured pocky but then freaked out when he saw you guys over here and quickly switched it to vanilla." Shinwon says with an evil-like grin on his face.

You hear some shuffling under the table before Lucy shoots up in the air, clutching her shin.

"I think you may have kicked the wrong person." She says, smiling but her words drip with venom.

"I am so so sorry, is there anything I can do?! Um I don't think I have any plasters, is it bleeding? Oh gosh I really don't know what to do I'm really so sorry." Kino frantically apologises as he rummages through his backpack, trying to see if he has anything that could help.

Lucy smiles, seeing how much he's worrying. "No really it's fine, it's not bleeding or anything and I'm tough, seriously."

"Even so, even tough girls would probably prefer not to be kicked by idiots, right?" Shinwon asks, looking at Lucy and smiling. A clear wind up of poor Kino, who is still searching through his bag.

"That is true, maybe I should ask he pays for my drink or something, as compensation." Lucy replies, looking at Shinwon with a cheeky grin on her face.

"Hey that's my line!" You retort, laughing with them.

Kino pouts and sighs, "I really didn't come here to be bullied guys."
