 I want to do you better than anything
else I've ever done before  

Those words loop around your mind the entire weekend.

You couldn't decide whether you were outraged that he thought he could get away with this kind of behaviour, or whether you were completely falling for a person you barely knew.

This was not the best use of your time.

You had exams and Lucy to worry about.

Not to mention your own mental state.

The last thing you needed was some arrogant, drunk, horny 20yr old's words to push out all the important information you've been trying to cram in your brain.

Sighing, you look out of your bedroom window from your desk.

You knew that it was going to be difficult, but you try to push all thoughts of Kino to the back of your brain.

You had bigger fish to fry right now.

Pushing through the revision and swirling fog of notes, you ignore your phone for as long as you can.

You almost make it until the evening, but then as you had just finished dinner you hear your phone ping.

The sound almost makes you fall off the sofa.

You glare accusingly at your phone, expecting the message to be from Lucy or one of your other coursemates or even Kino.

It is not any of them.

It's an unknown number.

And now it's calling you.

You quickly decline the call.

The icon pops up on your phone, letting you now that someone had left a voicemail.

Looking around, as if someone could see into your tiny apartment, you call the voicemail number and listen to the new message.

"Hey it's me, so I lost my phone and I'm using a friend's right now, no --- stop she'll hear you, come on man be cool. So yeah I just wanted to let you know that all your millions of calls and texts that you send me on the daily won't be going through right now but I look forward to reading them all when I figure out where I've put my phone. Catch ya later kitten! ---No it's our thing dude we have a thing, shuddup."

You press save on your mailbox and smile.

You couldn't help but wonder who Kino was with.

He'd never talked about any of his friends that much, just that they were all as creative as him and that he "schooled them all" at dance, in his words.

You roll your eyes and smile at the thought of a normally cocky Kino pushing someone away as he makes a ludicrous voicemail.

He used your pet name in front of someone, was that weird?

He said it was "our thing" but does that mean anything?

You decide to do some Googling.

"If someone gives you a pet name do they like you?"

You look at the search bar for a whole 30secs before quickly deleting it.

How had he burrowed his way inside your head this much already?

Why was the image of him smiling and making awful jokes making you smile?

When was he going to ask to see you again?

That last thought had started to weigh more and more on your mind.

What if you need to make the move? Be a strong, independent, 21st century girl?

Well if you were going to be a strong, independent, 21st century girl then passing these exams was probably a good start.

Sighing, you clear your plate and mooch back to your room, where a sea of post-it notes and coloured markers await.

You wake up a few hours later, drool sticking your mind map to your face.

Grimacing, you wipe your mouth and try to salvage the diagram.

Rubbing your eyes, you sleepily check your phone.

1am?! What a wild life you have, you thought as you lock your phone.

In a sleepy daze you notice the message icon flashing.

Quickly checking to see if it's urgent, you stab in your passcode and see who dares text you so late at night in the run up to exams.

After reading the message you immediately smile.

Hey, wanna meet up for a milkshake or something?
I'm really craving one right now but I don't think anywhere will be open
But tomorrow? Just a quick study break
If I see another highlighted word I'm gonna throw up I swear
Save meeeee

You quickly type back a response.

Hell yeah! Milkshakes are always a good idea!
Lemme know what time, can't wait to catch up
I have so much Kino gossip and if I don't share
I'm gonna explode
