The first time I saw Sarah was when I was in Simons. Simons is this milkshake bar in South London and me and the boys had a band meeting there that Saturday. We had been in there for about 5 minutes, which had been spent just talking until she walked in. She wasn't surrounded by friends, but a group of girls waved at her when she came in. She smiled but sat by herself, in the booth opposite ours.
She was wearing a white t shirt with a daisy on it, the petals spreading around the fabric. She had on a faded blue skirt and some white converse. Her hair was blonde and curly, with bits of pink and blue floating around the bottom. Her eyes were outlined with a black line, her lips were pink and her eyes were green. All of these things I noticed but the first thing I noticed were her socks. Just from this you could tell she wasn't like the other girls, they all wore their socks at the ankles. If I'll remember one thing about this girl, it'll be her knee socks.
I had just made eye contact with her, electricity flowed through me. She smiled at the table and hid her face in her hair. James waved his hand in front of my eyes.
"Earth to Brad, are you in there?"
The others laughed and I shook my head.
"Sorry, what were you saying?" I said.
"New lyrics." said Connor. He started talking but the girl had just ordered. I couldn't help but listen, her voice was sweet and girly.
"I'll have a bubblegum milkshake." she said. Thats what I had. She noticed and smiled at me. I noticed that all the others had stopped talking.
"Brad, if you don't go over and talk to her then I will." Said Tristan. I blinked.
"What?" I said, trying to act like I had no idea what they were talking about. James laughed.
"That girl, with all the colours in her hair." said Tristan. I blushed.
"Fine I'll say something to her." I said. "What do I say?" Tristan thought for a second.
"How about hi I'm Brad?" he said. I laughed.
"State the obvious." I said. He shrugged.
"Why are you asking us anyway? We're no better than you at the whole girl thing." said James. I nodded.
"Ok, then I'm going in." I said. I slid out of the booth and went over to her.
"Hi, I'm Sarah." She said. I froze.
"I'm Bradley but my friends call me Brad. You can call me Brad if you want, but we're not friends. At least not yet. Unless you want to be? Cuz I do. Um.." I took a deep breath. "I like your socks." She smiled.
"Well aren't you a talker." she said. I could feel myself blushing.
"I guess I'm not used to talking to such pretty girls." I said. This time she blushed.
"I'm not pretty, but thanks." she added. I noticed her phone on the side and picked it up.
"What are you doing?" she asked. I tapped my number in and gave it back. The boys started beckoning for me to come back.
"Do you wanna come and sit with us?" I said. She smiled but shook her head.
"Sorry, but I have a friend coming in like 2 minutes." she waved at me as I went and she kept looking at me while I was with the boys.
"Did you get her number?" asked Connor. I nodded. The meeting progressed as usual but I wasn't really listening. Her friend came in about halfway through the meeting, she had a black nose ring and bright bubblegum blue hair. Sarah stopped staring at me when she came in so I tried to pay more attention to the meeting. The lyrics were good but my mind was just somewhere else. Even if she'd stopped looking at me I kept looking at her. Until she left a five pound note on the table, picked up her pink bag and left. Just after she left I felt my phone vibrate. I had a text from an unknown number, I smiled as I unlocked my phone to read it. It said:
hey Bradley, give me a call sometime ;) S xxx
