Moving Forward

Within 2 days Sarah had moved out of her little flat and into mine. By the time the last bit of her stuff was unpacked. It was like she'd always lived here, even just the little things she brought with her, like having her perfume bottle of the shelf, her blue bookshelf in the living room, the coconut shampoo in the bathroom, and the way the fridge was now filled with vegetarian food.

Today me and the boys had to pick the hair and make up people so we were waiting in the Star meeting room for them to come in.

"Do you think any guys will apply?" asked James. I looked down at the application forms.

"Nope, they're all girls." I said. As they filed in one by one I realised it would be impossible to do this. We had no idea what we were looking for. When all the make up people were finished we told them to wait outside until we had decided.

"Guys, I have no idea. Was one better than the other? How much foundation do you wear on stage?" I asked.

"I don't know." said Tristan. Connor and James were looking at the forms.

"They were all as good as each other, so let's just pick the one who we think we can get along with. Remember they are gonna be with us a lot for the 4 months that we're on tour." said James.

"I liked this one, Tamara? She seemed funny, like someone you could get along with." he said. Connor nodded.

"Yeah, I liked her as well." said Connor. Looking at her picture she had black hair in a donut bun and she was dark skinned with brown eyes.

"She was nice, let's go with her." I said.

"James can deliver the news, seeing as he bought her up." said Tris.

"Ok fine." said James as he went out.

For the hair people they all showed us they're pictures of hair that they had done and told us about they're experience in salons and stuff. It was like the make up situation again, they were all as good as each other until the last person came in.

"Hello, I am Claire Asamally. I have not got any big salon experience of a fancy résumé but I can do hair. And I'm here to prove it." she had her reddish brown hair secured with a scarf, like a classy old film star and she wore dark sunglasses. She opened her brown bag and pulled out a variety of hair products, scissors and a mannequin head with long blonde hair. I looked at the boys to see what their reactions were.

"First I wash the hair, the shampoo makes it shiny." she said, I could smell the shampoo, it was lemony.

"Then I blow dry it straight, this means I don't have to straighten it." she said.

"Then I trim the edges to make sure there are no spilt ends, then I cut it into layers and smoothen it out." as she spoke her hands worked over the hair, and when she stood aside it looked so different to how it had come in, it looked shiny straight and organised.

"Wow." said Connor. She smiled, her red lipstick pulling over her teeth.

"Thank you." she said.

"If you could please wait outside, then we'll come out in a minute and tell you who has got the job." I said. She picked up her bag and walked out. I looked at the boys.

"Claire." said Connor. We all nodded.

"I'll tell her." I said and I went out to see all the hair hopefuls sitting on the purple plastic chairs.

"Well, um... Claire got the job. Congratulations Claire. Sorry everyone else." I said. Claire smiled.

"Can I go and thank the others?" she asked.

"Sure, come back in." I said, and she walked in to see the boys again.

"I just came to thank you," she said, taking off the scarf.

"And to say I'm really looking forward to coming on tour with you guys." she took off her sunglasses.

"So yeah, just thanks." she said, taking off the reddish brown hair and revealing blonde, pink and blue curls.

"Sarah!" I said. The boys still looked shocked.

"Oh don't act like you've never seen a girl remove all her hair and turn out to be someone you knew the whole time." she said. "Oh, and Brad had no idea by the way."

"Why did you trick us?" asked Tristan.

"I didn't want the fact that I knew you guys affect your choice." she said.

"Fair enough, you got in on talent so well done." said James. She smiled.

"Thanks." she said.
